I said it was going to be fun either way! I've no issues at all with being beaten if it's all in the name of good fun!
Leaders Skink Starpriest (100) - General - Trait: Master of Defense - Artefact: Phoenix Stone Skink Priest (100) - Priestly Trappings - Artefact: Phoenix Stone Battleline 10 x Skinks (80) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers Units 5 x Chameleon Skinks (120) Behemoths Bastiladon (300) Total: 700/700 The rules for this game are only one battleline required. The good news is this only requires painting 5 chamo skinks, the Bastiladon, and the Skink Priest I started converting last night! Very do-able! I got to 600 points and wasn't sure where to go, so added in the Skink Priest for buffing some more. Thoughts?
I could drop in 10 warriors for the round 100 points, or another 10 skinks and waste the 20 points. My thinking for the priest was that the Celestial Rites stacking on the Bastiladon might come in handy, but having some more shooty skinks to soak up some hits might also be handy.
Urroh, looks like I am playing some of the games tomorrow now. Best get this Bastiladon built pronto!
I played! I played real game of AoS! Lost the 700 pt match after I decided to chase something with some warriors I had no chance of catching, that was my mistake. Didn't know enough about Skaven. Second game we played 1400 points, I will post my list later, but it was basically Firelance Starhost, Old one on Carno, Scar Vet on Carno, Bastiladon... Star Priest got mega ganked first turn by the guys Skaven he had underground, but promptly got wrecked by flaming lances. Multiple 6 rolls and the mortal wounds shredded half his army really quickly. He managed to kill my Bastiladon, but after that it was inevitable with 2 Carno's going primal on his ass. Bloody. Good. Fun. Playing the store owner next Friday, and the same guy again a week tomorrow for some more fun games.
Sounds awesome! Yeah, Distraction units can be like a pain, like mosquitoes they do enough damage that you want them dead, but not worth chasing around.
I'll definitely rethink my 700 point list for the next time. Thinking Firelance Starhost is the way to go and hope I get lucky.
I am currently debating between these two for the Thunderscorn fight on Friday... Allegiance: Seraphon Leaders Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (260) - General - War Spear - Trait: Legendary Fighter - Artefact: Phoenix Stone Battleline Knights x 5 (120) Knights x 5 (120) Knights x 5 (120) Battalions Firelance Starhost (60) Total: 680/700 Not sure about losing the 20 points, or using so many points on the Carno. But god damn if he plays something with the Monster keyword I want to be able to mess it up. Someone mentioned Thunderscorn have dragons...? The alternative is this: Leaders Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) - General - Trait: Legendary Fighter - Artefact: Relic Blade Skink Starpriest (100) - Artefact: Phoenix Stone Battleline Knights x 5 (120) Knights x 5 (120) Knights x 5 (120) 10 x Skinks (80) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers Battalions Firelance Starhost (60) Total: 700/700 My Starpriest has been a target so far, so he hasn't been too useful, but I still think it's 100 points well spent if I can get venom off once or twice before he gets ganked. Weird. All the knights disappeared when I tried to copy it from Warscroll Builder... Added them back in. They all have lances. Obviously!
I like the first list, 20 points should bet you a triumph though, not super useful, but better than nothing. But then I always like my big stompy monsters!
I think I'll give it a go, I loved my Carno in the last couple of matches, the run and charge thing was hilarious once it kicked in.
The Scar Vet on Carno + 3x units of Knights didn't go so well. The charges didn't work out and I got stuck in a choke point, rendering many units useless. Mistakes were made... I still think my Bastiladon list has a lot of potential, I played that second and did much better. Thunderscorn are god damn tough, they do so much damage! For higher points I am considering more Bastiladons and Chamo Skinks, backed up by more priests, maybe dropping warriors. Not sure what I'll drop in as battleline though, need to play around.
For my final 700 point match, as we only need one battle line I'm doing this: 1x star priest 2x priest 40x warriors Make a circle around the priests, buff the warriors, cruise into everything. 30+ warriors doubles spear attacks Star priest gives double jaw attacks Star priest for -1 to hit Priests for rerolling saves and/or mystic shield
I finally won a 700 point match against the Skaven! Used the 40 warrior list and once I got in range it was brutal. Using warriors in small groups is going on my "pointless shit" list that's for sure.
This is the point I am up to on pondering through my 1100 point list at the moment: Allegiance: Order Leaders Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (260) - War Spear Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) Battleline 10 x Skinks (80) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 5 x Saurus Knights (120) - Lances 10 x Skinks (80) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers Behemoths Bastiladon (300) Total: 940/1100 I'm not set on anything at the moment, except the Bastiladon. Here is what I have to work with: 2x Carnos (either rider) 1x Bastiladon 40x Warriors 15x Knights 1x Scar vet on cold one 1x Starpriest 2x Priests 20x Skinks 5x Chamo Skinks My opponent won't mind if I use the skinks in any combination, so could do more chamos if required. Haven't finished building the others yet. I also have a couple of other odd bits I have worked on, so could use them as a Skink Chief etc. Open to any suggestions, but that's the bulk of it. I'll probably be playing Skaven, so need to tackle getting in range quickly and taking care of a lot of shooting stuff.
Leaders Skink Starpriest (100) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (260) - Warblade - Artefact: Quicksilver Potion Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) - General - Trait: Legendary Fighter Battleline 10 x Saurus Warriors (100) - Clubs 5 x Saurus Knights (120) - Lances - Seraphon Battleline Chameleon Skinks (120) Behemoths Bastiladon (300) Total: 1100/1100 Wouldn't worry about skinks in this case. Use chameleons to smack down war machines. Use your fast units to go around the hordes and kill the heroes. Warriors screen the bastiladon who shoots away as much as possible. What kind of skaven are you playing against?
I've watched a few Batraps against Skaven and the thing that always does well is Rippers and Chamo's, Skaven crumble without heros so snipe them out, a well placed bloat toad has a hero scared even before you start. Guns not Stormfiends!!!!!!
