    Greetings!

I've been actually playing lizardmen since they had the 7th ed armybook, but just recently I got into making a proper army - fortunately my community includes a decent amount of different players and armies of WHFB. So I decided to enter the setting and the system which still lives in our club.

Firstly I would like to rant a little bit about the style and the miniatures of lizardmen. Although I adore all the big dinosaurus and monsters (apart from salamanders and razordons), all the saurus types look outdated for me. So I decided to convert some of my own. I also came up with a bit different style, diviating from the original aztec/maya lizards and moving towards something more of generalized ancient culture (Disney "Atlantis: the Lost Empire" would be a great comparison).
As for the explanation of why my army would differ from the classic models in both model range and details I came up with the idea that my lizardmen originate from the South Lands (different already) and have moved to the Land of Trolls far up north right after the Age of Strife (this is the land where almost every army in my community operates in/originates from) to protect some divine places of the Old Ones (including some damaged spawning pools which spawn altered sauri).

But enough of the rant, let's get to the miniatures, shall we?

    My first unit of skirmishers:

    The second one:

    one skink a bit closer:

...and one is painted already to test the color scheme! :D
    [IMG]

Finally, what I came up with regarding my saurus:

I will have at least 25 of those.

Anyways, thank you for stoping by. I'm a really slow hobbyst, and I'd like to assemble and paint a fully converted force of lizardmen, so expect this thread to be really slow on updates. I will post something new soon enough though.

    Cheers!

They are beautiful. How can you paint so good? My skinks will consist of a base, drybrush, and wash, once I'm done.

    Wow. Really overwhelming!

Many thanks! Yeh, time is always an issue with miniatures, I know that myself quite well :) but there is always at least some to convert and paint I think.

Thank you, more is coming! I'm currently working on (more like sculpting) 5 more sauri.

Nothing works as well as the eternal mantra "base them-drybrush them-wash them" ;) it is the best and the fastest ways to paint though I recommend using some times to get a quick and nice finish.
I started painting and collecting miniatures somewhere around 2009 and painted chaos space marines for about 7.5 years, so that is worth mentioning I think. And I just like to get the best result I can on my miniatures, so there is that factor also.

Thanks! The color scheme is actually heavily inspired by one from the last lizardmen armybook - there was one teal skink in the gallery at the page 70 which got me inspired. I did just a few tweaks though for this scheme to suit me better and look a bit more interesting and eye-catching.

Thank you! The shields are actually one of few parts I don't like in the lizardmen design. I wanted my lizardmen to look a bit more civilised, so I came up with an alternative design.

Wow... that is absolutely amazing @ChiliPepa . I can't believe how good that skink looks. How did you get the skin transitions so smooth?

Personally I am a huge fan of the "Mayan" flavor of the Lizardmen, but different approaches are always beautiful and unique. I love your idea of taking an "Atlantean" feel, and really like the direction your shields and saurus are taking.

More pictures of the other saurus maybe? :snaphappy::snaphappy:

I am looking forward to seeing more :vulcan:

Thank you! :) Well actually there is almost nothing special about it, maybe except for some mixtures. I just based it with flat cover (teal-grey in my case), then shaded all the recessed parts using blue wash, then overall wash with a mix of blue and green wash, and then watered-down highlight with the base teal-grey. After that I just added an extra umpgh to it with extreme highlights using a mix of white and jade and green.

    Warden
Thanks :) well, this is just my approach, I personally don't have anything against the original style - in fact, it is quite stylish and logical.
As for the pictures, it will come a bit later ;)

I also forgot to post my two skink priest last time, so I'll do this now. This may be counted as a little update I think ;)

    Really great!
I like that the one with the pipe is rather chilled... like the host in front of him is slaying the enemy and he's just watching and maybe casting some bolts at those who slip through the lines...
And the other one seems to be doing the kamehamehaa (is it written like that? I mean the special attack from dragon balls)... maybe he's against some champion of chaos or so... great work!
Gotta get out the green stuff and play around again myself... but upcoming exams are causing a shift in priorities for me at the moment... meh... but in six weeks I'm done and will definitely try to invent something of similar coolness...;)

Thanks! Well the actual idea behind kamehame-guy was Ryu from the Street Fighter series :) but I guess both can count as an inspiration source.
I also have some exams coming in a few weeks. Oh well. There is always something that disturbs our plans.
