That basing on the oldblood Carno is over the top and I love it! Probably would paint the rim black or brown, but that is awesomely awesome. Great work!
So work is settling down and I'm able to start playing again. Joined a slow grow league and decided to add Sylvaneth friends to my collection. I was reading the fluff and LOVED the story of Durthu and how they continued it with his children. So I wanted to take this comic book story approach because the spirits of durthu in the mortal realms have basically spent the thousands of years since they were created being super heros, roaming the lands, protecting innocents and fighting evil. And now that the queen is back they are joined together again for some avengers-isk shenanigans. Anyways here is the start of my attempt. I hope you all will enjoy this as much as you have my Seraphon so far. More pics of those will be soon I promise. I'm painting my heavenswatch now So just to set the theme of the project I wrote this little tag line. "Spring. Summer. Fall. Winter. Their father died to ensure the future. They fight to preserve it. They are THE SONS OF DURTHU, and Chaos is barking up the wrong tree!" And to start with, I've built Spring.
The idea I have is that there will be one son for each season. Spring will have this samurai/leader thing going with a sword and scabbard. Very youthful and strong and heroic looking. Summer will be this hot head wielding two swords and a bad attitude. Fall will be the calm tranquil older brother kind of guy with a spear. Winter will be the wise old eldest brother but also winter brings death so he will be wielding a giant scythe
They're showing up for me now, must have been my phone. Looks so awesome! Looking forward to the others!
Just finished building Summer tonight. And here are the two brothers together. I think gameplay wise these two will actually be spirits of durthu. Fall and Winter will be Treeman ancients in gameplay.
I can't put my finger on it, but there is something about the one on the right that I like much more than the one on the left. Now on to painting!
Haha thats ok. Im kit bashing all of these to make them unique so I expect people to have ones they prefer over others. I tried to make Summer look like a younger less tortured durthu, so if you like durthu hes the one for you. Fall should be finished soon. Winter will have to wait. I need to figure out how Im going to do a giant scythe with the materials I have available. hmmm.
Actually they both look fantastic. I was just making a joke because the one on the right is mounted on a rectangular base and I'm an 8 edition player (and anti-AoS ). Having the four seasons represented by the treemen will look awesome. Can't wait to see the entire group painted up
this is fantastic work I love how models that are the same can be made to look totally different with just a few changes
A while back my local store had a copy of the Guardians of the Deepwood warhammer fantasy Christmas box set. I nabbed it. Came with 3 treeman kits and like 40 dryads. Once I get the appropriate sized oval bases I'll swap them over
Agreed! The tagline is great. Glad you were able to get so many, but that is way too much money for me, I would prefer to cast them! Really looking forward to see how you paint them all, the GW treeman sets are beautiful when painted!
