No matter what batallions come out, the constellation includes pretty much everything so I doubt you 're gonna have this problem. Unless they tend to wipe out the whole army to make a new one which they definitely won't since we have the biggest army after Stormcast Eternals right now. To be honest I don't expect any new units besides maybe 1 or 2 and those just for the promotion of the book. What I do STRONGLY hope though is a remake of our salamanders : the ugliest GW models right now pretty much. Look like 80s miniatures in a bad way
I kinda like them. As long as the head is the one with the closed mouth, I think they look pretty good. I have one and I'll be painting it with the purple and rakarth flesh monster colour scheme of the Fangs of Sotek
The fact they're ugly pieces of shit and the Dark Elf versions are at least a trillion times better. At least.
I think they look completely goofy, not intimidating in the slightest and the wrong side of a cartoon... They're like characatures of dinosaurs!
This exactly, we don't particularly need new models. We need our existing models to be rebalanced and fit in the current game with a new battletome. Our roster itself is fine, but it just doesn't fit in well when compared with say the stormforged. We lack allegiance traits etc., our models seem to balanced around a game that has very few mortal wounds (take our guard, they're deent melee troops, but at 1 wound and 5 models/unit mortal wound mechanics annihilate them), summoning & magicis kind of broken in its current form, a great deal of our cool & powerful stuff are behemoths which you can only field a limited number of. There's a whole slew of issues like that that prevent our army from really coming into its own despite not being terribly designed or having any major flaws. IT just doesn't fit in well as it stands...
I also agree we have lots of models of almost every purpose, what we lack is ways to use them effectively.
Well, from doing my detail picking from the Seraphon book, the book has a few hidden secrets. Mainly the constellations on the limited edition case, I have noted down all the symbols and matched them up to each of the units, there are actually a few symbols leftover on these constellations. Could mean nothing but what they pulled off with the Stormcast chambers made me go back to going through the book.
If it's limited edition I don't think that it's going to reveal anything extra, as they'd probably put any hints in the version everyone's going to see. It's already unlikely enough that many will read much into these hints, I don't think they'd want to narrow it down further
I've been looking to get some salamanders/razordons and YEP they're really damn ugly. I'm considering grabbing a Flesh Hounds of Khorne kit (similar size/shape) and converting them by slicing off the Khorne icons tacked onto them (seems easy to do) and gluing Seraphon icon bits in their place. With the right paintjob, I imagine they'll look fairly reptilian since they're already scaled and have crests here and there.
on the notion of salamanders/razordons, why are they sold 1 salamander + 3 handlers and what the hell am I supposed ro do with my army of handlers... They're resin so they're a pain to convert and they don't even have a particularly nice pose to give them some other weapon
Yeah that bothers me as well. You could use them as Skinks with Javelins I guess. I used two of them as Stegadon crew, but they are really not THAT useful. ...also Arrrhg those damn Razordons are way too expensive.
Because that is how the unit worked in 8th edition, 3 handlers per creature, and on a misfire he would eat D3 handlers. after the handlers where gone, the creature would roll on a chart to see what random thing he would do for the rest of the game.
