I'm pretty into the new dreads actually, always liked the coffin dodger style more than the Horus heresy ones.
Taken in context it's not bad, but the quality of lore writing is incredibly inconsistent. I've found the 40k background to be better overall than any other wargame lore I've looked in to just for the sheer scope of it. Back on the topic of new 40k, nothing new to report really. Faction Focus: Genestealer Cults allows GSC to take an Astra Militarum detachment as part of their army, so that kinda sets precedence for Traitor Guard as well which is an exciting prospect. There's also an article "Choosing Your Army", which I thought was a bit of a nothing article. It's whole purpose seems to be to say "look, we've already told you people that points and power level are different things but you keep arguing about it on the internet so here's an entire article to say exactly that same thing again". Given some of the threads I've seen over on DakkaDakka I really don't blame them for this, but it really doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know.
Very happy imperial grav tanks are making a comeback, however the one they showed off is ugly as all feth
I'm broke, despite trying to sell various excess collection bitz I managed to only scrounge $20. Oh well no kit for me. No gaming and trying to start a deeper friendship with my brother in law. You are ambivalent?
Might just preorder the books I need, if I go to the store I get some free goodies. The store manager is holding an art print for me. Busy still putting some Tyranids together that I had sitting around for weeks. Don't know what else to add to the collection, I want something that would fit nice to Ice themed Tyranids. So far of what I own is: Both gaunt types, Gargoyles, Hive Tyrant, Tervigon, Biovores/spores, Warriors, Carnifex, Genestealers, Broodlord and Rippers.
That's the thing. He loves Warhammer and generally will not try other games. So I either by this box set or I'm pretty much not getting off the ground with my plan to try and create a stronger bond with him
I preordered the Xenos 2 and Chaos books and will save up to buy the box set, hopefully in August. The free downloadable rules should be enough until then. You can always buy just one of the $25 army books and use the free rules to learn the game. Actually, if you can get your hands on one of the Dark Vengence box sets, you can field a decent Chaos army and they should be dumped fairly cheap as the new box is coming out.
Fair enough. I guess I'm trying to figure out a way to get you playing sooner rather than later. Building a stronger relationship with your brother-in-law can only be a good thing.
I hadn't seen the new dreads yet, they look interesting, much more "modern," but that being said I like the thrown-together-box-feel of the previous plastic dreads. These look a lot more like scummy Tau xeno-tech to me... I also notice that in the picture there is a black templar in the photo next to the dread who looks like he is thinking the same thing as me...
