You beat me to it! I'm positively excited about it (and a little worried about point cost updates, but mostly excited!)

I don't think any of our guys are under costed except very potentially skinks as loads of other people take them as cheap filler.

    Allegiance abilities woooooooooo!

It's a little sad to note were not getting a shiny new battletome (too bad for 2 wound guards), but on the plus side allegiance abilities for us means slann may finally be more playable and less niche! Fingers crossed :D

I'm both happy and deluded by the sight of the new Handbook: surely it is nice to see AoS being regularly updated, enriched and developed with the community, but on the other hand I know I don't like very much to buy things knowing the next year they will be outdated...

    Anyways!

Hope for a point reduction for:
    - Troglodon
    - Kroxigors
    - Bastiladon wit Ark of Sotek
    - Slann

Maybe some form of nerf to Saurus Guards, Solar Engine and Chameleons (don't hate me, I say this cause they are omnipresent, and I'd like to see more variety among the Seraphon players' lists).

Some clarifications (or one not overcomplicated rule) about Line of Sight could be helpful too...
... and, so much important, some fixes to the summoning mechanic!!!

It's a £15 book to be fair. A small price to pay for regularly updated rules.

I guess he means not right now because we will in the next months as our turn comes closer ( judging by the updates of the previous battletomes )

Posted this in another thread. Here's my opinion of it unless proven otherwise:

Oh man that sounds almost too good to be true.
I read "updated points for units in every faction in the Mortal Realms" and my mind translates to: "SCE, Ironjawz, and FEC become cheaper while Seraphon and Death stuff gets more expensive"

I also read: "Like in Skirmish half of Seraphon stuff doesn't get points anymore so screw you, Lizards!"
I also read "New Rules of One" as "Magic becomes weaker!"

EDIT: After seeing those Skirmish rules I am seriously more expecting to rage than to be happy.

    EDIT2:
    My wish list:
    Points reduction for Slann(200),Kroak(400),Krox(120),Skinks (60),Saurus Warriors (80)
and fixes for the mechanic of all wizards (especially EotG) and Guards get two wounds and a 6+ ward save. EDIT: Also a change for the summoning rules.

Yeah, I know it isn't much, what does bug me a little is the fact that we are buying a thing which we already know will become "obsolete" in circa 12 months.
This has without any doubt positive consequences, but there's something which disturbs me...
... it could be my little ecological anti-consumistic inner me, suffering for the guilt to consume all that paper, of course! :sorry:

On the contrary I hope Guards don't receive any sort of buff, to me they are enough powerful.
Or at least if they received that buff I'd like to see a big increase in their points cost!

EDIT I've read that wrongly: what you suggest would be a smart and vary good idea.

Completely agree with you about summoning: it would be nice to see it more appealing than as it is now...

... but since GW stated core rules won't change, such modifications would theoretically only been used in Matched Play (I think). Right?

Youd have to be kind of foolish to think guard are really strong in the current meta at their cost with 1 wound each. They need 2 wounds, and a points drop. At the moment taking them is too much of an investment for really poor results.

That was my thougts as well, but then I realized that (from a gaming pov) everytime there's a new release, especially one that involves directly all the armies and the way you play the game, for many months there's an increase in games, with peoples that want to try all the new thigs, and so on.
It will only bring positive results, we will have a system truly alive, in constant evolution, with no "consolidated tactis" that are doomed to remain the same for years...

Right. And it is frankly amazing how much effort GW seems putting into AoS!

Do you guys believe we will see some factions being merged together in the GH2?

The way things are going? Seraphon and Stormcast:
    - Seraphon get squatted
    - big Dinosaurs (Carno, Bast, Stega and Troglo) become riding beasts for even more Stormcast units.

EDIT: Dammit I don't want to hate SCE I actually like them in some ways. Please don't take my posts too literally, I am not a hater. ;)

I can see that happening, they have announced that the new book will cover allegiance abilities for over a over 16 armies so I imagine those armies not covered by those new allegiance abilities would be quickly merging under the other forces. As much as I love all these factions, I don't want too many factions flooding the player base and opening up to some factions to be neglected. (40k's Sisters of Battle)

I do like the idea of a new General's Handbook every year, the first book was quite cheap and Games Workshop seem to be content with the idea of doing more paper backs in the future allowing them to keep prices down. Every year means that the balance is constantly updated and prevents a meta from setting down.

I am looking forward to seeing what the new Rules of One will be. I still want the Ripperdactyl Riders ability to be kept in check, that rule of one works. I can imagine them changing the rule of one regards to magic allowing more tactics with magic heavy armies.

What Seraphon allegiance ability I would like to see is something that compliments the lore of how they teleport down from the heavens to replenish their numbers. Maybe something along the lines of "12 inches from the general, when you roll a 1 for units taking battleshock tests they regain 1d3 models." again, that is just something I am throwing out there.

Yeah, so many possibilities. We only have to look at SCE, they show how units and special abilities rules look when GW is actually interested in an army. SO many of them are cool and/or unique and/or very powerful and fun to play with.

And yeah the GHB1 did a LOT of things right, IMO two of the three RoO are fine, just the magic one is meh.

It's not a surety, but it is a less remote possibility than it was before, with our allegiance abilities being packaged along with many other factions with existing battletomes. I don't see the necessity of a new battletome if the information for our units and allegiance are already referenced in older books. That is unless we get some more units on the way?

All i can say is SCE and khorne getting revamped battletomes doesn't really mean anything for us, those two armies are the main factions on virtually all the promotion. It makes sense to revamp them to the current standard of battletome, unlike ours whose models consist entirely of units previously in 8th edition (could be wrong on that point).
