Sadly Here in the states tournaments are starting to run comped. So no stacking cold one vet bonuses and no vortex. so that's two of my favorite ways to play gone. Congrats on the top 10 placement
Cheers pal. No vortex huh? I totally get why that is comped to be honest. Such a shame GW don't put a little more effort into practice games before they go to print. The game shouldn't need to be balanced by the community. Oh well. Guess I'm lucky I play over here!
Perhaps he was referring to this: If you play a Bloodclaw Starhost then several Heroes can use their command abilities. Now if you have two Scar-Vets on Cold Ones that would mean that every Saurus Knight in range of both gets two additional attacks with their Vicious Bite attack. So you would have Knights that do seven attacks, which is pretty awesome for their price, especially since those bite attacks could benefit from a Starpriest's Serpent Staff. Lists like this one make it even more attacks: ...funny example I think I'd have fun trying that one. Only the lack of shooting is bad so maybe not the best combo but you get what I mean. Allegiance: Order Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (320) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One (100) Skink Starpriest (100) Saurus Eternity Warden (140) 10 x Saurus Knights (240) - Lances 10 x Saurus Knights (240) - Lances 5 x Saurus Knights (120) - Lances 5 x Saurus Guard (100) 5 x Saurus Guard (100) 5 x Saurus Guard (100) Bloodclaw Starhost (100) Eternal Starhost (80) Total: 1940/2000
If you can fit units between three Scar-Vets you even get three bonus attacks. Which is kinda hilarious. Eight attacks with one Knight of which six have the chance of doing double damage on a 6+
Hmmmm.... Might even make this list for 1000: Bloodclaw, with - Oldblood on Carno - Scar-Vet on Cold One - Scar-Vet on Cold One - 3x 5 Knights - Starpriest - 3x Terradons or Rippers, or maybe two Razordons instead. Really strong? Perhaps not. But could be quite hilarious if it works.
Yep but In the ATC(I think) rules they are using, it's comped so that A spell or ability can only affect a model once. So even though you have 3 cold one vets, your knights are only ever getting 1 buff. Knights need at least 2 stacks to be competitive. So sad knights. They did it to nerf khorn and we got caught as collateral damage.
Not trying to derail the thread any more than it already is but they are very competitive when taken in a bloodclaw battalion with 2-3 cold one vets. A unit of 10 under 3 buffs puts out 40 cold one attacks hitting on 3s, re-rolling ones, and wounding on 3s. That's a good amount of wounds already, plus whatever the riders do. They will melt units and lone behemoths.
Interesting. I would have expected that their 5+ save and their low move (for cavalry) would still make them die die too quickly to be of much use.
The cold ones attacks is the only reason that I will field our cavarly one day. I doubt however that you ll get chances to actually attack with all 10. More than 5 is most of the times an issue judging from my experience - I field my units in such a way that the cavarly bases cannot pile in enough.
Hi pal, sorry only just noticed this! I ran with the first list in the end, was definitely an improvement! Kroak-General Astrolith-Phoenix Stone Starseer-Phoenix Stone Skink Starpriest 30 Skinks in 3 tens with Bolt Spitters and shields 6 Ripperdactyls Bastiladon with Solar Shadowstrike 100 points to summon vortex for Kroak
