That poor gungan... first relegated by his own people and then hated and picked on by the real world fans of his fictional univers... he's still an important character... though with a bit much of slapstick and childish humor...
Yes, he could... but... yes he could... Joke aside! I think that at least episode 1 would have been a different movie without him... And to know he's an infantile idiot makes it easier to have him kind of enthrone the emperor by thinking he's doing the right thing... though some scenes are truely unnecessary... like the tounge in the engine... I think it was a good idea to have a funny child amusing character, especially cause the aim was to win a younger audience (children or even grandchildren of the already infected 'original' fans)... but they overdid it... a young version of cewbaca or so could have done the job... without getting annoying after the first time watching the movie...
Yes... a better one! In my eyes this never made any sense. There should have been more checks and balances in place to prevent one single fool from ushering in the Supreme Chancellor into pure power. Also Palpatine had many senators in his pockets... he could easily have gotten anyone of them to do it. It was too simple of a story telling mechanic for my tastes. I would have preferred that Palpatine's ultimate rise to power would have been through a more intelligent, subtle and devious channel.
How many times do I have to tell you all! If Padme hadn't called the vote of no confidence in the first place, Palpatine would never have been able to sieze power anyway!
He was a fool, cast away by his own people because he was a fool. Any important role is pretty much out of place with him.
And it wasn't JarJar's fault anyway. Half of the Senate was already mind-controlled by Sidious, just like him. "The Force can have strong influence on the weak minded". He was merely a vessel, a senator known as so honest and friendly nobody was suspecting any evil of him.
Although it still remains highly implausible and suspect that an individual as foolish as Jar Jar would ever have been put in such a position as to be able to make galaxy altering decisions.
The Adventure Chosen Yeah, it would have been a better trilogy if Jar Jar hadn't been in it. Or if Anakin wasn't so whiny!
How could he? If he did anything remotely suspicious he would have been exposed as a traitor long before 3. He would have had no choice but to lead the Separatists while Valorum led the Republic, and Valorum would have used the Clones for good.
But surely if Palpatine hadn't rose to power, the Clones would never have been discovered and the act to create a military would never had been passed. So while he didn't have control of the Republic, the Republic wouldn't have had an army anyway and he could simply have conquered the Galaxy with the vast droid armies of the Separatists. The Clones may have been discovered part way through, but by that point it would be too late. In the actual events, the Clones had been discovered at the start of the Separatists conquest, and three years in in was still close to a stalemate. Bearing in mind in this situation, given the fact that Palpatine and the Separatists would likely want Amidala alive to keep any chances of a Republic army neutered, so the assaination wouldn't take place and Kenobi wouldn't have found the Clones, and that Kamino is so remote and unknown to the Galaxy (or at least those that do know of it wouldn't know ablut a Clone army there, or have any inclination to go there and find out) that the Clones likely would never have been found, or at least not until The Separatists hold on the Galaxy is so strong that even the massive army can't defeat it. Like I said before, even on even ground it was still more or less a stalemate, so at that stage they would have no chance. By then, they might have built the Death Star, so that would be the end of Kamino. Palpatine might even be able to convince them to follow him as well. If he takes control of the Republic, and the order is placed for the Republic, he could simply go over and take control of his army, which would immediately quash any resistance from any fledgling Rebellion. So actually, in theory Palpatine would actually come out completely on top if Padmè hadn't called the no-confidence vote rather than being eventually defeated in Return of the Jedi.
There are many things he could have done to achieve the same effect. The first and most obvious is to have another senator call a vote of no confidence. This should be relatively easy given how many senators there are. Finding some way to pressure one of them into doing his will (either through actions as Palpatine or Sidious) would be simple. There are a plethora of options (manipulation, direct or indirect threat, financial corruption, allegiances, black mail). Remember that he can easily act through others behind the scenes without ever exposing himself. This is arguably Palpatine's/Sidious' greatest talent; hiding his true self/intentions. Alternatively he could have had Valorum assassinated, thereby opening up the position just as he had through the vote of no confidence.
Incorrect. The Separatists would still have attempted to assassinate Padme because it was Jango who organised it all, independently of Sidious' wishes - Palpatine had nothing to do with that part of the story. Certainly Nute Gunray wanted her dead after she humiliated him on Naboo, so even if Jango hadn't hired Zam to kill her, Nute would have attempted some sort of assassination even if Dooku told him not to, either by hiring an assassin like Zam or sending assassin droids to do the dirty deed. This would have led Kenobi to the Clones as happened in the main timeline, the only exception being that Valorum, or any other chancellor, would have seen that using them would have been in the Republic's best interests, especially with the threat of the Separatists, and Padme would have been escorted back to Naboo so she wouldn't be there to prevent it. Because Valorum would have used the clones for good, there would have been no Order 66, no destruction of the Jedi and no Empire. Valorum would have been very well guarded, much more so than Padme because she was just a minor senator. If Palpatine had manipulated other senators to do his will as he did with Padme and Jar Jar, then victory would have been in his grasp all along, which means that nothing could have been done to stop him and thus it isn't Jar Jar's or Padme's fault specifically because everyone else was as easily manipulated by Sidious' deception as they were. You all just blame Jar Jar for it because it's easy to blame someone/something you hate for everything. I think you mean neutralised. Neutered means cutting off vital parts (I won't go into any further detail)
You can't fully blame Jar Jar. The true blame lies with those that put him into such a position as to be able to make such important decisions. Palpatine was definitely the one pulling all the strings. I do feel he would have easily found another person to play that part. However, that does not remove the blunder from Padme's or Jar Jar's record, because they were the actual instruments in his rise to power.
