    Hi guys,
I recently encountered a situation in one of my games. De objective was to hold a tower, the tower was completely covered by my skinks. My opponent wanted to attack me but there was no room on the tower left to attack me. Also the skinks weren't visibal to my enemys ranged units. Does this mean that the skinks can't be attackes in any way, they seem invunurable.

    :sorry:
    "Completely covered"?

I need to see a picture to visualize this. What stopped them from scaling the walls (etc.) and attacking hand-to-hand?

    Need pix :snaphappy:

(But good use of the doubled post if this is that...)

    Thanks for the pix.

Right so the parapet was completely filled (with skinks?) in the original event. Got it.

OK, I could see shorter skinks being totally behind cover against handgunners or something that shoots on a flat trajectory.

But archers should be able to shoot. That is the whole POINT of archery. They can launch arrows on an arched trajectory....so that they fall almost vertically on the target....if that is the only way to hit the guys on the parapet.

There is also cannons. They could shoot the parapet wall, unless AOS says Fantasy Stone is Cannon proof.

Why couldn't three melee guys (like in your new pictures) bash down the door, enter the tower, and attack from below? How did your Skinks get up there in the first place?

Rules state that you need a unit to be visible to fire upon.

Skinks cant see anyone, so can't do anything, same goes for your opponent.

    I suggest house-ruling it:
    - + 3 to save when shot at
    - + 2 to save in close combat
    - everyone can shoot at them
    - they can shoot at everyone

What do the rules offer for battering your way into different kinds of buildings?

Do the rules for Buildings need to be on warscrolls for each type of building?

Is there a Warscroll for a generic example of terrain like a stone tower?

    Sadly three times no..

There are some rules for Mysterious terrain now but that is it (so far).

The new Generals Handbook should bring rules for sieges.. so perhaps in there.

For now how you play it, is how you agree to play it with your opponent..

Well, there is _kind of_ a rule, isn't it??
If a unit moves into a tower you remove it, perhaps except one model or so which you pay on top to show they are inside. Then the model of the tower counts as the model for that unit. All distances, line of sight and so on are measured from that model. You can attack normally but the unit counts as being in cover.

    Source: Watchtower warscroll.

Remark: This is...mediocre and IMO should be changed to something a bit better, but hey, it is a simple rule that is easy to play with.

So that ^ is the answer ^ to the OP's original question. Melee troops or ranged troops could have attacked the tower as if it were the Skinks. They were not invulnerable; they were not unseeable.

I agree the rule is lame. Represents a flimsy structure at best.

Aren't these wh fantasy rules? Aos gives you only 1+ save when in cover or when on terrain.

I think the way pedrake explained is way cooler. Just place the skinks onto the tower and place the enemy unit in a row. They clim the stairs and fight the enemy unit on the tower one by one. If one attacker dies, the next one can attack. The defenders of the tower can only attack with the ones surrounding the shutter.

Buddy, that just was me speculating/guessing/asking. I dunno the AoS rules that well, and I wanted to know the answer as much as you did.

Did you start the game with your Skinks on the tower?

If they moved up there into the tower, how much move distance did you pay/turn if you remember the details? Did it cost any inches to climb? How did you play it?

You said why cant the minotaures not bash down the door. And that made me thinkin. I think that is a cool way for handeling this situation. I didn't mean to offent you.

I think it's just depending on the distance between start and endpoint of the move... the rules say models can move vertically to climb up/ over terrain and stuff...

Even though other rules may be cooler: That's AoS rules. Directly from the app (you can get them as PDFs from the website as well). I never played WHFB.

    You didn't. :)

I saw a triangular tower at a Warhammer store not too long ago. Absolutely encrusted with skulls ...I mean skuuullzzz. Two paprapet levels, molded to look like stone. Skullz, skullz, skullz everywhere.

Does that thing have a warscroll?
