    Hey skinks!

    Whose interested in shadespire then? I have pre-ordered mine, looking forward to when the sepulchral guard come out myself.
    The mix of cards and dice really intrigues me, I wonder if they will have a lizardman warband for it in the fullness of time?

    I kiiinda expect no Lizardmen.
    Lizardmen don't fight for renown or treasure.

    Anyway, I am going to get the game I think. But I want to wait until the release. The faction I am interested in is the Sepulchural Guard as well. I don't care much for Khorne or the SCE, and only very slightly for the Ironjawz.

    Yeah i was on the fence because I'm sick of everything being khorne and sigmarines but the death models look really nice.

    I'll probably sell the SCE models to a friend. Ir just let him paint them and keep them for play when he visits.
    About the Khorne... actually I like Khorne a bit. But the demons, not the mortals. So yeah, probably will paint those just to have painted them and have them available for guests to play or so.

    I think the game will be well received by GW customers, so I expect we will see the other warbands sooner or later to be included in Shadespire.

    And while Lizardmen and Seraphon don't fight for renown or treasures they certainly fight against anything which could bring benefits to Chaos, meaning they are ready to start a battle not to let Shadespire's hidden treasures being stolen by unworthy hands...
    ... so I personally believe they could fit into the game lore quite comfortably!

    Regarding the game itself, despite all the positive opinions I've heard about it, it can't appeal to me.
    I've never had a demo game, that has to be said, but there are some things which really put me down:
    - I like having some tokens or miniatures on the table. But miniatures, plus tokens, plus dice, plus boardS, plus cards (of different costs, type, uses, icons)... Well, probably it's too much for me;
    - The deckbuilding aspect is certainly challenging, but I'm the type of person who becomes bored after a couple of hours of it;
    - Shadespire has been described as "competitive" since its reveal, and I frankly hate this word, this type of thinking and this type of playing... 'Cause to me "Competitiveness" often means "Desperate search of the unbeatable exploits that grant me a win" (I'm exaggerating a little);
    - The probably only real, deep reason I cannot make me like Shadespire is the fact that in order to reach "balance and competitiveness" warbands of the same race have to field the same models (at least for now).
    I know, the same warband can play in a completely different way depending on how its deck is built, but in reality (for now) every SCE warband is made by these 3 characters, every Khorne has those 5, ... and variety is furthermore forbidden by the fact that these models have specific names (not general ones like "Stormcasts liberator", "Ironjaw Brute", etc.).

    All of it entirely IMHO, obviously. :)
    I hope I'll change my mind in the future!

    I'm looking forward to it. I'm hoping to use it as a casual intro game for friends and family. I'll probably buy all the packs, I kind if want to play Ironjaws, but the Skaven may be fun once they get released. We'll see.

    I'm looking forward to it. There's been a demo in our local GW store for a couple of days, and it's pretty fun to play. Sick of Sigmarines and Khorne mortals, but what can you do, they're the protagonists and antagonists of AoS, for now at least. As far as the Seraphon not fighting for gold or treasure, well, to put it pessimistically, they'll fight for whatever GW wants them to fight for, and who knows, one of the Slann may have predicted that the treasures of Shadespire are to dangerous to fall into the hands of Chaos, and sent some agents to retrieve them, who knows. As far as gameplay, I don't know, It's pretty different from the sort of specialist game I'm used to, like Mordheim or Gorkamorka, but fun in its own way, though it feels a little to up to chance, even for a dice based game, for my personal taste. What cards you draw can more or less make or break your win chances.

    :sorry:
    There was Mordheim, then Mordheim withered, then OMMs answered with Frostgrave, and now GW answers with Shadespire. [?]

    Have I got that right? :writing:

    I think so. :sorry:

    Do Stormcast need money when they are made of gold armor?

    I hope some normal-human factions get included, even if the Bretonnians are long gone. It would be good to see some normals battling against the odds all in the name of glory and booty.

    Also I am curious if there is any terrain planned for this game? One of the coolest things about Mordheim is the beautiful and characterful terrain tables it inspired many hobbyists to create.

    I'd assumed that most went to Shadespire to acquire magical artifacts that could be found there. Or the "Gold" may be Ur-gold, who knows. And yeah, would be nice to get some Free Guilders or whatever they're called nowadays. Representatives of all the factions would be nice, though we'll probably get 5 or 6 tops.

    Similar reaction here. I love their poses. Normally I only like Khorne demons and not the mortals, but I think Ill paint those and then who knows... @Mesandres wants to sell his Khorne half of the AoS Starter Box...

    Shadespire is more of a board game than a pure miniatures game.

    Played my first match against my wife last night.
    It was pretty fun, at least after we finally understood the rules. They are way more complex than I thought actually. The videos I saw don't really do them justice.

    Yeah we also had to take a break twice because of emergencies like a teddy bear being out of reach and waking up without mom in sight.
    Night time is still the best time. Two kids means that everything requiring concentration is now done at night. :D

    Picked my copy up today, though I have no idea when I'll be able to play. Maybe one of my nephews will want to try it out later this week.
