Fourth Kroxigor finished and ready to go, this batch of three are the old sculpts with weird posing. Two more to go, hope you like him!
I was bored at work today and started something beautiful, I present to you my mounted Mage-Priest / Herald: I think he looks rather convincing as a rider and I'm really proud of the conversion to be honest. Still need A LOT of green stuff work but the basic concept is there. Hope you like him!
That looks pretty good, is it possible to move his head or not? if you could get him to look forward more I think it would really help once it is painted.
Sadly that is not an option I'm afraid. I would have to resculpt the whole head and I'm too old for that, I actually could do it as I, believe it or not, worked as a sculptor for a long time but I just can't be bothered. Also I quite like the pose, he looks like he is calling the troops.
I think I also like the head as it is. Not sure about the model's details as I have never worked with metal, but judging by your other stuff I am very confident you will make the model look awesome.
Yeah I'm not sold on those VERY OLD cold ones but actually I like them better than the derpy plastic ones. I just can't live with those faces and hands. Also metal is a pain to work with but it brings me memories from my childhood.
Amazing looking army, painting is superb! I like the head of the rider as it is too, maybe repositioning the arm that is holding the blade so it is pointing a bit forwards would be easier and achieve the result of him calling his army and pointing towards the enemy? Anyway I'm sure he will look amazing when finished.
I'm chuffed to bits with this WIP update, the final Kroxigor is still on hiatus until I manage to get the mental strength to paint it BUT a small jewel is almost finished, the first of my old and lovely Mounted Skinks. Hope you like him, more to come tomorrow!
I love these colours they work just as well on cold ones as they do on tyranids. The mauveish hues with their various levels of shadow/depth give a very nice '3D flesh' feeling to the scaleless parts…Did you use glazes for this? Also, did you work your way down from white to purple or start with purple and add highlights? Kudos anyway!! (and such a nice base, too)
FINALLY DONE! I feel like the finishing stages on this thing took AGES! I really hope you like it! It was royal pain in the ass to paint.
Good work on that one, I especially like the look on the rider's face and the nice scale textures you painted on.
Great combination of new and old! I really like how you just added the right amount of 'modern' bits to make it fit the style of today's models without doing too much and destroying the character of the original model! Well done!
I have been tepid about finishing my Horned One models because they are so rare and expensive, and I don't want to goober it. This is the standard I hope to aspire to for mine.
I was waiting for an opponent and decided to take some fast snaps of the army, including these bad boys you've never seen finished! My Salamanders! More and better pics soon I promise. And a group shot! So proud of myself right now! Almost 1500 points ready. Soon to be completed and brought to 2000! First army I would have ever painted!!
