Death going to making a push. Thinking we'll be seeing some ghost pirates?? Apparently the story has progressed about 200 years since AoS started now, and cities have been established etc. Should be some interesting progression to the story.
Oh dear. It really might be another Stormcast release. I just read on TGA that there is a rumor originating at some - reportedly fairly reliable - source that says it is a new Death faction: SCE whose souls Nagash reclaimed instead of letting them flow back to Sigmar. I hope that's a cruel joke.
They have just updated on the website again, today is about The Falling Star. A comet slowly falling across the sky
So, space marines, chaos marines, sigmarines, primaris marines and undeath marines now? They're getting a bit uninspired
Unfortunately it is because people keep buying it at a faster rate than other things they sell. I knew the SCE would be trouble right from the onset of the AoS launch.
It's kinda weird, the space marines at least fit fairly well in their space theme, their suits do look like they'd be essentially armored spacesuits. Those things are bulky so it looks appropriate. But for medieval/fantasy stuff it's just too bulky. They're not carying life support systems and stuff under it. Why does it need to be so massive. And for undeath it makes even less sense. The big bulkyness doesn't match well with decaying corpes....
Well to be fair we don't know yet. Perhaps the rumor is wrong and it won't be SCE. As for them making sense or not... well, many things don't make much sense in that world. Their aesthetics aren't what bothers me. Not my style but IMO not too bad either. It is the weird focus GW has on them that bothers me.
Meh, it's indeed more the focus and them being everywhere and the largest faction by far (40-odd models or something compared to some factions like ironjawz that have like 5...)
Yeah we have it comparably good with Seraphon, at least we have a lot of options in our army. Many armies don't have that.
I couldn't agree more. I still maintain that those poor SCE wouldn't even be able to move effectively in those suits of armour. Also, SCE are just a simple rip off of 40k space marines. That is ultimately the fault of the consumer. GW's focus is purely dictated by sales. If everyone purchased Tomb Kings (when they were available) and no one purchased SCE, then you would be seeing Tomb Kings everywhere. The market ultimately decides what GW focuses their gaze on. Sadly, Space Marines on their own out sell everything by a mile.
I don't get why though, or well I get why space marines sell well, they're cool and badass. But the SCE don't really have that. Space marines have chapters with personalities, they're super soldiers, they stand out in the background of a empire army, there's a metric ton of lore behind them, there's cool individuals, there's a bunch of customisation options from colour schemes to the type of helmet. SCE have extremely little lore, and what does exist is fairly uninteresting and generic, the customisation is very limited, they don't really stand out as unlike the spacemarines they're not the elite of an empire they're just the entire army, the differences between brotherhoods is virtually non-existant, they're essentially just a variation of Einherjar but have lost their personality, hell the little lore that exists even tells how they lose their personality with each reforging. Now their designs aren't terrible, and being Einherjar has its charm, but among dinosaurs, orruks, demons and walking undeath they don't really jump out as especially cool. Do we have any feedback from GW as to why they'd be the most populair/what's liked about them?
