Just to put it into perspective: As I understand it, the headline is wrong, this isn't about the dog. He was not convicted because the dog raises its paw akin to making the salute. It was because he used racist and anti-semitic phrases in the video as the command words. I am a bit puzzled though: I know it would be a crime here in Germany but I thought that in the UK such phrases would be covered by freedom of speech. When I was in London 20 years ago they were selling Hitler T-shirts and the like in tourist shops, including pretty uhmm.. bold statements on them that would get you into jail here.
Things have changed in the UK, we don't encourage anything that could be classed as racism and rightly so, freedom of speech is fine but if your comments are seen as racist, et, etc they should be stopped. A lot has happened in the past 20 years, where I used to live there were race riots in 2001 that become national news, I don't want to get on my soap box but bigoted people cause a lot of problems in this area. Only last month I noticed a van with a blackboard strung on the backdoors with comments and views that could have started a riot, not good.
God i wish hate speech ad racism was a crime in the usa...the kkk/alt right or what ever name they try to go by are simply domestic terrorists but fly by with perversion of the 1st amendment...
