Blog Canas' armies

Good progress! Don't worry about the contrast between your first attempts and the advanced versions... it shows you how far you've come since then... and if you might one day want to redo the older models keep in mind to keep some or at least one of them the way they are... just for that reason... I myself still have some fifths edition saurus for that reason and regret to have stripped the old bow skinks completely...

And this old blood conversion/ diorama is soooo cool! Excellent job!

Mm, I generally like keeping my older stuff some I'm very unlikely to ever redo em. Always feels wrong to do that :p

The shioelds are a tad too bright for my taste but that might just be the lamp.
Nice color choice though.

I also just noticed the Oldblood coming out of the Chaapa'ai, that's a cool model! :)

It's the light, it shold be pretty much the same colour as the red scales on his back/face with the new one having an attempt of highlights on it (though those aren't really visible..)

Light is a fickle thing. I'm tempted to buy a lightbox for that reason alone

Yeah I also sometimes struggle with my lamp being too bright.

mm, I wanne try a firelance starhost, but currentl I only have 8 Knights. So needed another 7 to actually try it out :P

I think I have 25 but I keep them hidden because they are a pain to paint.

You know what is pIn to paint? An already assembled stegadon
Yeah, subassemblies really make sense for that one.
In fact there are - at least IMO - not many models that can be completely assembled without causing any problems when painting them.

Why would you even attempt that? It's not even a difficult one to paint seperatly (apart from the skinks as those are tiny and thus kind of annoying to hold if they're not glued to something larger)

It kinda surprised me how many of these models are troublesome to paint when fully assembled. The amount of models holding a shield half an inch in front of their face and othr such nonsense is asthonishing.

Except basic infantry. The only sub assemblies there, if you'll call it that, are shields

I happened to buy an exiting hobbyists army. He had two steps mostly built but with the howdahs off. They have not been touched yet

I often omit the weapon arms as well. Especially two handed weapons. But yeah, you can mostly assemble those.

For two handers it depends on the orientation of the weapon.

However, I completely get where you are coming from
