Blog Ritual's Army - Lizard on Lizard Action (For the Waaaaagh!)

Wow, that's awesome! Your paint job really brings out the detail!

I’ve seen this army on instagram and it is lovely, I like the story behind it as well.

Well done Dan

I promised an update so here we go...

A fyreslayers army cursed and turned to stone, found by a yet to be named jade wizard who managed to reanimate them and now has his own personal stone army.

Off for their first outing today, I've got 8 hours of games planned.

What a beautiful army concept. I absolutely love how the green pops out in contrast to the stone. Very cool! The army looks very well unified across all the models.

Lovely job on those dwarves!! I love the concept. It brings out the oriental hints in their design… And not only is it great looking, it's also convenient for painting and it allows you to play much sooner. Great thinking, awesome army. :pompus::pompus::pompus::pompus::pompus:

I like them. The throne and it gold stamps on the magmadroth should have been painted green like the axes.

How did you get the stone effect? Drybrushing?
I agree, it's on the list to go back and do but I painted this all in under a week so was pushed for time even with a simple theme as it is... There's definitely room for adding more details.

They're pretty brutal on the table, too. Those three models are all my opponent has left in this game.

The Nighthaunt also remain unbeaten. We played 1k Scaven & 1k Nighthaunt Vs 2k Stormcast Vanguard. Lots of Scaven died early due to deepstriking, but ended up the Nighthaunt just tabling 2k worth of SC by themselves... I honestly don't understand how they're this brutal, I've not come up against anything super optimised for beating it yet apparently.

I couldn't handle painting them in their standard bare skin theme, I hate it
I can understand why you hate it. Personally I'm not a fan but I'm going to look at it as a challenge when I end up painting some

Reminds me of terracotta warriors.

Really beautiful work, looks better than the normal color scheme in my opinion. And I love that jade wizard!

I can't say exactly, but it's whichever dark green I had to hand, with mint green highlights, mix the two together in varying shades for a bit of texture. Washed with blue!
Thanks. Will see if I can replicate

Repainted the Griffon to match the jade wizard army.... The plan is coming together. Worked on the stone texture on flat surfaces, I think it came out well.

My favourite bit is that he has a quicksilver potion on his belt, my regular Friday night opponent always forgets I take it and hates it when I use it.
