I have previously speculated that at the end of the current Malign Portents mad-magic storyline that we'll see the Slann come in to sort shit out, being such powerful wizards they could well be the only ones who can...

But that could be some time off, considering what we know is coming. I won't get my hopes up, but there's certainly scope of it - sadly it's all speculation for the time being.

yeah, but they only have 2 spellcasts per person. So it's sitll possible to simply spam enough spells to get something going.

I'd love for Nagash to be standing around gloating at his victory only for a slann to show up and slap him around a few times yelling at the youngster to learn his place before banishing him back to his own realm :p

I agree with most what you say but not with this. GW has already stated that this may not true.
EDIT: In fact even the Battletome says that. some of the Oldbloods and Sunbloods aren't summoned either.

I just had a thought after reading the Tzeentch profile

What if within the new spells some of them cannot be unbound if cast that would negate the 30" range.............

Fair enough, haven't read any of it in some time... If there are actual Seraphon kicking about then they haven't exactly been making a lot of noise.

One of the major themes of all the AoS releases, has been about something being released too combat a certain threat.

Sigmar released the Stormcast unto the mortal realms.

GW released the ironjaws too make the destruction grand alliance feel less redundant.

Nurgle released the maggotkin too fend of the Sigmarines and the dead.

Morathi released the daughters of Khaine too fend of Slaanesh incurssions.

Nagash will release the Nighthaunt too fend on the living, especially the sigmarines.

The idoneth released themselves too harvest souls.

Now what could happen so that the Seraphon would feel like they need too be in the picture again, and really go all in on enacting their new great plan. The realms are somewhat "peaceful" as of now, and the threat of chaos is not the main focus. Slaanesh is going too happend soon, but i have a feeling that it will be the Aelves that will deal with her. Maybe they could do a big skaven release at one point, a thing they need as desperetely as us.
I could see that the skaven regaining ascendendy from the other followers of chaos, and they would begin attacking order as much as chaos.
The next big foe is going too be Nagash, then it will probaly be Slaanesh and i think that the threat after her will be destruction.

The only valid point I would see for a major Seraphon campaign would be something against Chaos. Maybe against some magical Tzeentch thing that the SCE cannot fight properly because they don't have...oh wait.... nevermind.

all the sunbloods are not summoned. The oldbloods I'm not sure about.

To be honest, it would fit as the end of the storyline with Nagash. There's 2 possibilities for this.
    1) Nagash uses "super chaos artifact of doooooooom", slann show up and tell him what a stupid young creature he's being
    2) Nagash is posed to win turning all the realms into death-realms, this goes against the plan of the old ones cuz they want all the young races to flourish and such. The slann show up and restore balance, forcing Nagash back into the realm of the dead and forcing Sigmar, Slaanesh & the fish elves to stop screwing with the flow of dead souls as badly so the balance actually stays. It'd also fit fairly well with the seraphon having vastly different objectives from most of Order.

TBH I could just have a Magical Supremacy Command Trait which gave me 27'' unbind range, so no big change on that part here.

“You banished Khul and the Orb Infernia to an earlier point in their timeline, giving the Seraphon who once defended the orb another chance at victory. “

What if nagash or khul manage to get the Orb Infernia? Seem reason enough for the slanns to pop up

I think there will be more today, because they didn't announce the focus of tomorrow.

As I've been following the news about the new edition, and especially reactions to it on social media, on forums, and on podcasts and YouTube and so on, I've noticed what I believe to be a growing worry on the part of Matched Play/Tournament Age of Sigmar players that many of the new elements we've see so far either aren't "for" them or, even worse in their view, will bring a lot of changes to the way they write lists and so on.

In addition to just general things like 30" unbinding, there's a lot of talk about all this "Realm-specific" stuff. Deciding what Realm you're playing in has been in the core rules from day one, but I've never seen or even heard of that actually happening. Now it seems like that's going to be a very big deal, with spells and artefacts chosen/available being dependent on Realm. This leads to a dizzying array of possibilities for each game--too many, possibly, to prepare for when one is used to building armies around one of six Battleplans from the GHB17 and that' s pretty much it.

I have no idea what's going to shake out, but I hope that everybody comes away satisfied. What I mean by that is that I hope that Matched Play retains its popularity (I like it!) and balance, but also that Narrative play is supported by these new rules elements and hopefully by new campaigns and Battleplans. Maybe it's impossible for GW to serve the interests of both sets of players, but I think they should try. I'm growing more and more interested in Narrative play, personally, and am hopeful that the new edition robustly supports it.

To be honest, for matched play I'd simply say "you can pick whichever realm you want to get your stuff from". That should be the simplest to build lists around and avoids nasty surprises. Either that or a tournament will just say "we will play in the realm of X build all your lists surrounding that". Anything else will either be a pain to deal with due to randomness and the large amount of possibilities or it'd become fairly pointless as there'd be no real difference between the different realms to Ensure an army works everywhere.

As for the tournament players complaining.. that's what the "hardcore" do when games change. They moan. Be it cuz the game is becoming "oversimplified" and all the noobs have it too easy cuz some of the overcomplicated nonsnse gets cut, or cuz there favorite tactic to abuse the hell out of gets removed cuz it's stupid and abusive, or just moaning for the sake of moaning. It'l Always happen and I wouldn't pay more attention to it than needed... In my experience listening to those kind of players too much when it comes to balancing tends to result in unfun games as they tend to focus on winning reliably as opposed to it being fun, so they tend to be fine with nonsense like say turn-1 wins provided they can be convinced it is somehow balanced cuz there's an equally ridiculous countertactic that "works".
