Hey guys, Just getting back into tabletop gaming and I am a previous Lizardmen player from the good old fantasy days! I have a SCB and a box of Skinks on the way. I am guessing Salamander spam isn't a thing these days?! Just wondering what a sensible next purchase is for my force. I what a hybrid list that can defend magic and can do some shooting as well. I was thinking another box of Saurus and a Bastilodon? Any comments/help appreciated! Cheers, Rich
Well with AOS2 out and new summoning I would say you need a Slann an Astrolith Bearer and you never ever go wrong with a Basilidon and more skinks. Don't buy an Astrolith yet as you can make one following the guide linked below. It's amazing what extras you can squeeze out of SC box for a couple of extra $ http://www.lustria-online.com/threa...rom-your-start-collecting-seraphon-box.20560/
Hey man, Really appreciate your suggestions! I have already built my models, but this is making me consider getting another box if I can get that kind of value out of it I am going to order a Slann for sure, along with Bastilodon and Skinks!
I'm in the exact same place! Without actually making any purchases yet. I was thinking of 2 x SCB's so I can build both gribblies, however I'm just not a fan of the saurus knights. But when you get an extra 20+ models for the same price as just buying a carnasaur I suppose you can't go wrong, plus with summoning it's worth having the models there as options. Wishlist would be: - 2 x SCB's - slann - bastiladon - skink priest - temple guard - dactyls I had a look through the conversion pages and the astrolith bearer looks doable, however the swimming troglodon not so much!
I played a game with my SCB yesterday and the knights just do not churn out enough damage. They are best used in small units of 5 for their mobility to get around the board and get objectives. The mortal wound on the charge is nice, but you're averaging one per turn usually. I just cannot see the army functioning well without a Slann at the back doing magic tricks. I have ordered a box of skinks and a skink star priest to bolster my force a little.. But I am 90% sure another SCB will be on the way in the coming months
Yeh it seems a shame that although seraphon have such a great variety of models, we're still dependant on one as a must take. Although I suppose it was the same for fantasy. Maybe that would be a good change for age of sigmar? New general possibility? Definitely would have to be magic orientated the way second edition seems to be. Great choice with the skinks, what set up are you thinking of taking?
At the moment my 1k list is going to be something like Slann Skink Star Priest 10 x Skinks 10 x Skinks 10 x Saurus Bastiladon 3 x RipperDactyls I am not sure how this will function going into battle. It has magic and a bit of shooting, was thinking maybe EotG over the Bastiladon as a possible change. My main issue will be combat, but I am hoping I have enough elsewhere to minimus my exposure. Any thoughts are appreciated

I don't know how viable a slann is in 1k pts? What does he take up like a quarter of the force points? I'm not sure with 2.0 AOS whether magic is a given or not.
Hey I'm a newbie I'm trying to find out as much as you are maybe it's because there's only one big gribbly in your list I think somethings amiss lol I find constructing 1000/1250 pt lists harder than larger for this very reason!!
True but how many rounds could you build summoning points whilst only 20 skinks are defending him? Are there any armies that could charge turn 1/2? I saw a thread on here that had an issue with ironjawz getting straight into combat
If they take the battalion they can move pretty quick but if @thinlizzy has a EoG I would swap out the Slann and use that as he can still summon in units on a good roll.
Engine of the gods has a random power per turn which includes free summoning (3d6 roll and between 14-17 you get it or something) the options are limited but good such as skinks, saurus etc but nothing big like a beastie.
Jinx! And I guessed the roll correcti think I deserve the 'new member' tag taken off for that lol Only problem is now the lack of general, could a oldblood be squeezed in? What's the points comparison between slann and EofG?
Hmmm this is risky but you could go Slann and EoG and drop the basilidon, keep EoG within 10 of the Slann and you roll 4 dice not 3 and discard one making the 14-17 possible all the time, that way you can probably summon in 30 skinks turn 1.
