Thanks! Here is the next thing I finished today: My Morghasts, Anna and Elsa. My daughter named them. She asked me why the two "Skeleton Angels" looked the same, and I said they are sisters. Sisters... snow on the base... the name stuck. I like how they turned out. In real life they are looking quite a bit darker than under that bright lamp. Their wrists are magnetized so I can use them with the swords or the halberds.
Haha ‘skeleton angles’ ;D I really need to get into magnetising - you’ve made it look seamless, interesting lol Sooo what have you got planned for Kroak ?
I will do a standard Kroak. The thing holding me back is lack of creativity. I have seen some nice Kroak models here on the forums and elsewhere (some mind-bogglingly great examples here: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/converting-slann-kroak.20350/ ) but I don't want to copy any of them, or lack the skills to do so and make it look good. So yeah, regular, boring Kroak on his palanquin for me. I will not glue him on though, and I will try to make him another base, probably like the one sitting on a stone in the thread linked above. But for now, nothing special. Magnetizing is really easy. Unless you look very close you won't see the magnets or their seams on most of my models. There are ways to make it rather smooth. My main problem is that I have a LOT of magnetized interchangable parts lying around, I know I will run into problems with that one day, when I want to swap weapons but not find them.
Ha yeah that would be me ‘where the hell did I put the damn arm’ Ah you can find creativity everywhere ! I implore you to try, you will amazed at what you can come up with
Hmmm.... something is missing... Are you serious?.... Oh, yeah that's it. But wasn't there something else? ... Right! Ok, let's test how that looks... I decided to not do further highlighting on the horns, to keep their look consistent with my other units. Now only the base is missing. I am pretty happy with him. The mask was even edge highlighted with silver, and that's not exactly my favourite technique. But worth it IMO.
I am not going to paint another Kroxigor anytime soon. Damn resin almost drove me insane last time. Good idea though, and yours looks fantastic. I might actually add a few Skinks to the base, I have a few unpainted Skink Handlers lying around that I don't need. I thought about that, too! But I couldn't decide about a color yet. I would probably use blue or yellow, most likely yellow, but I am not sure whether that would be visible at all, with the mask on...
Haha thanks, I know what you mean about resin...hate it, great detail as long as you don’t have to carve 60% of the model apart due to mould lines :S - also super bendy which is annoying
Yeah the Kroxigor and the Eternity Warden were the worst ones, but all resin models I have had one or the other problem, either with those bubble holes, warped or bent parts, loads of flash, missing details etc. Time for GW to finally get rid of it.
Love the skeletons! They are so dynamically posed! And your Lord Kroak is beautifully painted, it could have replaced the one in the army books.
Finally finished Kroak today. Here are a few pics including his base. The two Skinks are Skink handlers that I converted to.... banner guys? In fact I haven't thought about what they are actually good for, but they look cool. Like all personal assistants of Slann in my army they have golden crests. The rest of the base is just my usual cork rocks and some vegetation. My wife suggested adding the skull to make that rock less boring.
Thanks a lot! It was fun to do, and quicker than I thought. Perhaps I am really getting a bit better at all that painting stuff.
You doubt yourself too much from what I see you paint just fine! My only criticism is I like anpupil on my skink (personal choice though) just makes them look more eerie. I see they are suffering from wonky stick syndrome lol, so many of my models have that :/
