I think Kroak is fine but the modifiers make him OP if you take them all, EotG is strong so limit it or change the summoning mechanic for it, rippers if your lucky with the dice can be a tad OP.

You caught me before I edited that out of my comment!

I agree with everything you said, but I decided to remove that part since it was a little antagonistic for no reason.

I don’t think so your just getting your point across, healthy debates are what this forum is for.

Haha, agreed! I'm really looking forward to the next couple months and seeing how everything shakes out, especially in the competitive scene.

Me too. Many possibilities there for some armies.

Theres apparently a possibly FAQ this weekend, so who knows I kinda want to keep Kroaks spells minimum as to deal with scarier armies, things like Death are OP aswell.

What are people calling OP about Death?

The regeneration of summonable units can be a problem in some cases, but IMO still OK, since most armies can put out a lot of damage against those summonable units.

The re-summoning of killed units is strong, but in my games so far I noticed that the opponent can disrupt it by placing his units strategically. Not sure I would call that OP unless I am missing something essential.

i havent played vs death until now.
Is it possible to stop respawning by killing something? or does it work like objectives?

You kill the Heros that are summoning or stack your units near the gravesites to stop them placing the units.

Yeah, killing heroes isn't that simple anymore (possible though) and no you cannot destroy the gravesites but you can stay near them so the Death player cannot set up his stuff there.

Post FAQ I don't think Kroak is worth it anymore. The spellshield got nerfed to once per game as well, but it only has to shut him down for a turn to be effective, so kinda a wash really. Spellportal has been destroyed as a viable Endless spell IMO, they went too hard with the nerfs. They also clarified you can't stack Kroak's comets on the same target, so no more character sniping with him either.

Tried out kroak at the weekend granted i only had 1000 points in a 3k game but the nerf bat has made him useless almost without the extra boost from spells and banner.

The comet is great but i failed to cast deliverence for 3 rounds in total

I did 6 summon points 1 deliverence and 1 comet each round and he barely did a dent.

I know this was in isolation and at low points but when he cannot do enough to make up for the army boosts the slann gives it is bad

I will be reverting back to my slann and skink priest and i'm glad i didnt buy the model as planned

Don't be sad, such things have happened to all of us, and probably more than once. I bought Kroak some months ago and will start painting him soon.

Just do one of the following things:
    - Play him despite the nerf (you need more luck now, but he can still be a powerful model. Good enough for friendly games)
    - Play him as a regular Slann
    - Put him into your cupboard and enjoy looking at him, and play him again once GW adjusted the warscroll again.

I don't play AoS and this don't have anything to do with Kroak himself but I went through EXACTLY the same problem as you did.

I painted my Stegadon, it was my first model after a 12-13 year away from the hobby and the first time I ever painted something that massive. I was extremely proud and happy with him, one of the best jobs I've ever done. Then I realised that in Kings of War, what I play, it is just a piece of crap.

I stuck with him because I didn't wanted to leave him into a shelf, I played him for a whole year and a half, with mixed results. Then I realised I could use him to proxy with a friend as another unit and he's been wrecking face like a madman from then on.

Bottom line is that you have a model that makes you proud as a hobbyist and you have several ways of enjoying him, because in the end is not about winning ot loosing is about having fun and feeling proud of you work on display on the gaming table.

    Peace out ✌

Rippers have been changed too, I think that their new situation of D3 hit on a hit is more fair and a good solution

I think it takes away from their flair a bit, making them more generic, but rules-wise it is much easier to control. It is a good solution, and on average it still makes them better than they were before AoS2.
