Rebasing, repainting, repurposing, or a combination of all three options for my imperial crusade army for Warhammer 40k.

I have to go to bed, but jotting down quick notes that will make no sense until I explain:

Knightly house of Elros

Colors: navy blue (need paint suggestions) gold, silver.

High king: Tar-Palantir

Imrahil: Baron, kingsward

Ecthelion: Baron, Herald

Barahir: Baron, Master of Judgement

Athelwulf: Baron, Gatekeeper

Uhtred: Baron

Current running list of Vassals of Imrahil:

Elberon

Earendil

Ignatius

Current running list of Vassals of Ecthelion:

Haukr

Kurn

Victor

Current running list of Vassals of Uhtred

Beocca

Leofric

Armiger man at arm's Clappa

Armiger man at arm's Halig

Armsmen heavy infantry tempestus scions with Sallet heads from Anvil industries

764th steel legion mechanized infantry

End of current notes

Also, thinking about stripping and redoing my GCPS troops as extra guardsmen.

Built some bodies as I'm not sure wether I should use the heads/weapons they come with or find more 40k alternatives

Thoughts? Below are a shot of a unit painted up (not the scheme I want to repaint to) and a scale shot with a mordian.

Huh. Seems my last commentary got stuck in my phone. It is about your post from Friday:

The models are OK I guess (although I think you fell back into old speed painting habits a bit. I know you can do the details a bit better), but the bases need some work IMO.
Right now they look like they are standing on... poo. Literally.

Today's models are better. I think you should highlight the blue parts using a light blue or white, to make them look more like glass.
Rest looks OK to me. They are a bit plain but that's just their look, they don't have too many details that one could make shine.

Yes, the old minia we're when I was speed painting.

I'll take a stab at highlighting the blue.

@Crowsfoot meaning it's a high contrast color scheme?

A few bright highlights on the metal parts might do the trick. To a certain degree at least.

Alright, so here's the idea behind the feudal guard.

In a questoris imperialis household, the rankings go the following.

High king

Barons

Knights

Bondsmen piloting armiger class knights

Presumably, the knights/barons/king rule over the common people of thier Knight world. Assuming of course that the imperium would not want to waste resources, they would get the knights to press thier peasantry into service in levy armies. This also has a benefit for the knights, because they can have a small cadre of the overall populace trained in the use of superior weaponry (to the rest of the population.) This allows them an easier time to guard thier castles, as well as sacristian and other support personnel while on campaign without diverting main imperial resources.

Of course, the knights would not let these infantry levies be directed by overall imperial command. As an adhoc army, I'd call it an Errantry warhost.

Under this assumption, there is another assumption that these levy armies would be organised roughly along the lines of imperial guard regiments, with a feudal flair.

This, I have created a ranking structure for the levy forces under my knight houses command.

Commanders: masters at arm's

Sergeants: wardens

Storm trooper: armored huntsmen

Infantry: armsmen

I don't plan on having heavier weapons for these guys, just autoguns (regular slug rifle version of a lasgun) and maybe a grenade launcher here and there.

Each knight would produce a contingent upon being named to a crusading Lance contributed to the imperial war effort. This the units can either be in household colors or also individual knight liveries.

Are these 40K models or proxies?

just prepped 10 resin armageddon steel legion and am now painting the remaining 5 feudal guard from that squad of 10 from earlier.

IMG_20181007_233356.jpg After a weeks worth of no progress, I have 1 wash left to do on the 5 feudal guard I was working on and have done a single extremely quick thin coat on the first two steel legionaries.

Going home to work on these bad boys some more
