With the latest changes to the Astrolith Bearers warscroll, they have erased the part about how, when, and eventual side effects, of planting the Astrolith. Should we assume it is an oversight or did the nerfing of stacking Astroliths buff them so they can walk around freely with the planted Astroliths? 38218393_10156678019882718_8090778977532116992_n.jpg

I talked about it for a bit over in the Balewind+LoSaT thread.

    Yes, it is silly.
But hell, I'll play it silly. Astrolith Bearers now can walk around with their Astrolith planted until GW fixes that.

The question is: Is the app official or not? Are those warscrolls in the sense that we are allowed to rely on their words?

Wait, I just looked up the errata PDF.
It is indeed the new official wording for that ability.

So yeah, until they fix it: Walk around with your Astrolith planted.

Worth it. Maybe there will be enough complaints so GW finally get their s*** together and read rules before they release them.

On a second thought, it's not so absurd.
It doesn't say that the astrolith must be planted in the hero phase, so it makes sense. You move the bearer and declare the astrolith is planted at the end of the move.
If you want, later you can charge and plant it again...

Yeah I think from a fluff perspective we can live with that.
I still kinda feel like this isn't an intended buff if our Astrolith Bearer, but an error on GW's side. I think they didn't intend to remove the limitation, they just forgot to add the sentence.

Since Astrolith's aura is not table-wide anymore, they may have inteded to give the Bearer ability to move and still give him his abilities in exchange.

At this point I feel a bit tire of guessing GW's intentions.:(

I am 100% sure you have to plant the banner for the rerolls of hits in 10", but not for the wizard buffs. This is the most logical answer to this if someone uses his brain and dont tries to mess around with his opponent.

The wizards buffs are within 12", as written.
What perplexes us, is that in the description there is the reference to the astrolith bein planted, while it has been erased anything about the fact that the bearer cannot move.
So , as written, you can actually move the bearer and declare that the astrolith il planted just before the combat phase.
    It's a big improvement.

While I was totally against it at first, I just realised : They actually made an errata to change his effect. They definitely did it on purpose. The undead *can't recall who else* has also a banner - horsed one as well - that is planted all day long no matter where he is.

I doubt you'd want to CHANGE something, because it was one of the few that were. All 7 changes *red letters* are very specific and they did it on detail -> Kroak had all his abilities changed and they used 3 separate paragraphs for it so it can be totally clear.

So they definitely wanted to make it definitely clear as well here. It clearly says " Saurus Astrolith Bearer, Celestial Conduit " thus aiming at the SPECIFIC skill of Astrolith and not Astrolith warscroll in general, saying "CHANGE THE RULES TEXT TO" :

‘Add 1 to casting rolls for friendly Seraphon Wizards while they are within 12" of any models with this ability. In addition, add 8" to the range of any spells cast by friendly Seraphon Wizards while they are within 12" of any models with this ability.’

It literally seems way too clear right now. I guess I was just too eager to shoot my leg on my own and I didn't want it to be true before. GW definitely did :p

Honestly I think it’s ok as it is. Since the buff is only within 10 inch mobility is kinda necessary. It just helps.

That is an unecessarily inflammatory statement to a huge swath of people that play the rule as it is written. You don't need to plant for squat, considering there's no planting mechanic on the card anymore.

This is how you plant a standard...

(Where are @Paradoxical Pacifism and his 2nd WW pics collection when you need them? ;) )

And this is how one plants a standard a second time:

According to Keats, art is beauty, and beauty is truth. :D

There, I've managed to quote John Keats in a AoS rules debate. My work here is done. :pompus:
