That was a funny little video!

I've been doing that for years (except for my Tomb Kings acquisition!)

The announcement about next week's pre-orders confirms that that set of 5 odd-looking goblins are indeed 5 heroes. Which does make me curious if any of em are not support heroes or wizards cuz 5 of those seems a rather large amount.

    GW are up to something

Looks like Pop Figures, wouldn't mind a Seraphon or Tyranid one. Tyranid feels more likely but I have a feeling it might be just the Space Marine...

Perhaps they are _one_ hero, all of them together? The way a SCE Ballista is a single model (one warscroll) even though its crew is on their own bases?

You can sort of see the helmet outline from the silhouette. I agree it would be nice for some variety in choices, but Space Marines are their signature group. Just because they show the silhouette of that one though doesn’t rule out the possibility of them making others too.

Nope, they definitely have their own separate Warscrolls. You see some of them in the preview trailer.

Each one is a sort of mini hero. You take the Goobapalozza, all five of them, and each of the five is and independent unit of its own.

I might be the only one but the gobbos arn't doing it for me, I've ordered the book purely in the interest of a Troll army, if they can ally with Ironjawz I will theme them the same.

I think might suffer from having a bit much variation in terms of Visuals. The basic nightgobolins and their heroes have a lot of mushrooms going on, the squigs are bouncy and hyperactive, the spiders are well spiders & then you still have the troggoths which look like nothing else. It doesn't feel like a very coherent army right now.
I do hope we'l get some more new models for for example the spiders to make em feel more similar to the others. At least make em more active like the squigs & fanatics that bounce all over the place. that might help.

I kinda like the "soup battletome" with the armies in it still being kinda distinct but usable together (Legions of Nagash is basically the same).

Grots normally aren't my cup of tea visually (although I do like the spiders!) so the battletome isn't for me. But I can imagine to play Trolls at some point.
My buddy plans to play a Grot army though, so I will be able to take a close look at the book and the models, too. :)

Legions of Nagash feels more consistent though. Everything looks death and/or dying. There's loads of skulls, decay and ghosts. And they tend to either look like they're vengfully grabbing at their targets or are moving slow and purposefully like something inevitable. The grots have a lot more contrast amongst them.

What would probably help is give the spiders robes instead of this tribal feathery stuff, also give them more chaotic and active posses (they are very static compared to the squigs for example). Those are probably the ones that stand out most. The rest is at least somewhat tied together by having mushrooms covering most things.

Everytime I see this thread pop to the top of the recent threads list...

I picture a giant raisin orbiting a planet.

Well, certainly zombies and ethereal ghosts are very different things, but they were always put together in the same army (Vampire Counts). Different servants to the same master.

In WHFB Night Goblins and Forest goblins don't tend to join other goblins' tribes.

If one so desires, the army can be unified using a matching paint scheme. That would bring the trolls and squigs in line with the rest.

As for the "soup battletome" it is a bit more reminiscent of the old WFB armies (on a smaller scale of course), they were far less unified in terms of aesthetics.

Also because they’re anarchic Greenskins, having less unified aesthetics suits them better - they’re an undisciplined rabble of Goblins and all sorts of other stuff, compared to Legions of Nagash who are supposed to be regimented undead Legions serving their evil Death god master.
