Today in " Hints that aren't hints on the future battletome " Warhammer tv just reveal his weekly prog ! So as Batrep, we got Blades of khorne with and upcoming battletome, versus ... SERAPHON. Does it mean something ? Only the Slanns know !
I love how these rumor threads basically evolve into reading tea leaves, if you give them enough time. But yeah, hope is still alive.
In fairness, we are simply trying to decipher the plan of the old ones using the occasional ancient plaque of writing It is one of the most fitting factions for all this nonsense
I just remembered that I had to phone Sarah on Friday. Hang on............ swap 'phone' and 'Sarah' = Sarah Phone = Seraphon New Seraphon models on Friday then, how exciting
Watching the match now, it seems to be a summoning agnostic list. Has a Slann, but running stegadon and no other support for bringing new units into existence.
The list used on stream: | Ashley | | Seraphon | Slann Starmaster (General), Saurus Astrolith Bearer, 30 Saurus Warriors (Clubs), 10 Saurus Knights (Lances), 10 Saurus Guard, 10 Skinks (Javelins and Bucklers), 2 Razordons, 3 Terradon Riders, 3 Kroxigor, 20 Skinks (Clubs and Bucklers), Stegadon Though, Ashley does have 3 Razordons on board...
Does this mean I should be using ancient fortune-telling methods to search for Seraphon rumors? I don't think knucklebones get THAT specific, but I'll see what I can do!
Pretty much. But must be said that with - LoSaT, - summoning that decreases our casting potential / increased dispel range - changes to the range of some abilities ...it's more difficult to play lists that rely on synergies
Sure. Some synergies rely on spells: for example, Curse of Fate is an amazing spell that let you add / subtract 1 to a single roll in each phase. cast CoF on a Carno that you want to teleport and charge: +1 in the hero phase to the roll of LoSaT, +1 to the charge roll, +1 in the combat phase to score a successful "to wound" and so on. With dispel at 30", it's harder to cast CoF (or any other spell), AND with the new summoning mechanics, you are not going to field a Slann with Vast Intellect. Or anyway, you are no more using the Slann as a magical machinegun. We cast less spells, so those synergies are lost. LoSaT, is a WONDERFUL ability. But when you teleport a unit, you risk to have it outside the range of buffs… for example, the fact that skinks handlers are not part of the unit of Razordons / Sallies, can limit your tactics. The range of the buff granted by the Astrolith Bearer has been increased but the whole unit must be within said range. This is good for some small units or single models (shooting basti), BUT makes more difficult for hordes, unless you stick your AB to the back of those 40 warriors. And in that case, it will be a problem to use LoSaT.
There's also the general fact that relying on synergies is just a general more difficult playstyle than relying on individually powerfull units. And with the constant powercreep it gets progressivly easier to snipe key-models, thus ruining the various synergies relativly easily. Which in a synergy based army is kind of a big deal as sniping 1-2 key units can mean the entire thing falls apart. In an army that doesn't focus on synergy sniping 1-2 key units can be a big setback, but it won't immeadialty hamstring the entire army.
You don't need a slann for LoSaT, it's an army ability. You can get a slann command trait that let's you do it twice, but they aren't necessary for the ability
Not sure it was mentionned here and we might need to verify it , but from What'sapp grp we got a weird info. Someone at Heat 1 this weekend went to the warhammer world shop meanwhile the event. He saw that they moved Seraphon stand in a more visible place, while letting a hole in the box set , nearly big enough for 2 boxes. Moreover, there is new empty places in the Battletome stand .... I'd love to have photos of this
