Hey guys, I have an almost finished list that I am making for a league that is starting next month. The league has some veteran players. Leaders Slann - General 260 Astrolith Bearer - Incandescent Rectrices 160 Eternity Warden - Spellmirror 140 EotG 220 Battleline 3x5 Guard 270 Artillery Razordon x3 120 Behemoth Bastiladon x2 560 Battalion Eternity 150 Endless Spells Gnashing Jaws 40 Total: 1920 extras are 25 warriors, 25 skinks, 1 skink priest, both carnos, kroak, 15 knights. I am open to big changes to the list the only thing im set on it the bastiladons astrolith gnashing jaws(can make the thunderquake but hate the handlers) thanks guys for your advice and your time
think i came up with an idea for the handlers so they r somewhat useful. going to put them in front of the razordons so enemeys charge them while triggering the razordons ability nd so razordons arent in melee combat till i pile them in after the handlers die(unless enemy has flying)
my list is now leader Slann - General Astolith - Incandescent Rectrices Warden - Spellmirror EotG Starpriest Battleline guard x15 Handlers x3 Artillery Razordon x2 Behemoth Bastiladon x2 Battalions Thunderquake Endless Spells gnashing jaws Gravetide or pallisade?(astrolith gives much needed spell range to gravetide but gravetide adds cover to close units going agenst my bastiladons)
@Slikus Vaw I recently compared reread the wording on Gravetide and in my opinion, Palisade is a better choice. Edit: Let me explain. Suffocating Gravetide Cast Value 6 Set up wholly within 4" of caster Can fly & move 8" Predatory; this means your opponent will likely end up controlling it at some point. D3 Mortal Wounds and -1 Bravery to any units it passes over. Roiling Barricade When a missile weapon targets a unit that has ALL OF ITS MODELS WITHIN 1" of this model (the Gravetide), the target unit receives the benefit of cover IF THE ATTACKING UNIT IS CLOSER TO THIS MODEL (the Gravetide) than it is to the target unit. This is the wording that I think ruins the spell and makes it far less appealing than Palisade. Prismatic Palisade Cast Value 5 Set up wholly within 18" of caster Each unit within 6" gets -1 to hit on a 5+ (4+ in the Realm of Light) The Palisade completely blocks Line of Sight if you can't see the center of the model's base from the center of your attacking models base. This means units that can technically be seen because they are taller than the Palisade model, can't be. This affects anything that requires LoS; ranged, melee, spells, abilities. This can be amazingly effective for protection of high priority targets in your army. Due to the terrible wording of Gravetide and it being a predatory spell, for 30 MPP, I will typically recommend the Palisade. **One more edit: You might also consider the Athervoid Pendulum of the Gnashing Jaws. Even though both are an Endless Spell, the Pendulum can only move in one direction, in a straight line. This means with a little strategic placement, even if your opponent gets to move, he may still be damaging his units.
with the gnashing jaws ive had great success in the past with kroak by LoS him closer to enemy then casting gnashing jaws the LoS back to my army
so with the pallisade can i have a bastiladon at the edge, less than half exposed of the pallisade shoot out of it but then have it so the same target not be able to target it(without moving) since its u have to see the base?
I don't believe so. The LoS blocking, based on wording, is a 1mm wide imaginary line drawn between the center of each base. Even if the Skinks or Basti head could technically be seen or see, the Palisade operates off that wording. "A model cannot see another model..." So, once your Basti is able to fire around the Palisade, the enemy could fire back.
I can't remember the source, so I'm not sure, but do spell range increasers like Astrolith and Balewind affect the placement range of endless spells? If a Slann on a Balewind and next to an Astrolith casts a Purple Sun, can the purple sun be setup within 20" (Astrolith 8"+Balewind 6") of the caster instead of the usual 6" - i.e. is "set up ... within [x]" of the caster" equivalent to spell range?
@Furnus Based on this info from Warhammer-Community, yes Endless Spells can be cast through Arcane Vassal "Malign Sorceries are superb for Seraphon, too. Many endless spells, like the Burning Head, the Purple Sun and Ravenak’s Gnashing Jaws are incredibly dangerous to both the caster and their victims – by using the Arcane Vassal ability, you’ll be able to cast from your (relatively disposable) Skink Heroes."
I don't think that was exactly my question, but I may have been unclear. It was more a reference to whether spell range modifies the placement range of endless spells. Also, I believe (sadly) that the original Arcane Vassal ability was later FAQ'd so as not to work as cited in your message above
@Furnus Looks like you are correct. https://www.tga.community/forums/topic/18935-the-new-faq-23072018/?page=3 "Interesting change for the Endless Spells. They don't benefit from things like range buffs or arcane vassal anymore."
I just wondering how you were LoSaT'ing Kroak Twice. He is named and can't have the the Great Remember Trait as a result. There have been a few list floating around Lustria with Kroak and a Slann.
so i played a couple games nd didnt like how my guard and warden played out which was 410 points so i was thinkin on takin them out with the razordons/handlers out maybe the starpreist out also and putting in a unit of 6 kroxigors in the thunderquake and 3 units of 10 skinks so my list looks like this with some extra points i would like to get advice on filling in Leader Slann - General 260 Astolith - Incandescent Rectrices 160 EotG 220 Battleline Skink x3x10 180 Behemoth Bastiladon x2 560 Other Kroxigor x6 320 Battalions Thunderquake 120 Total 1820
Skinks are a better option, as their sceening and objective taking abilities are superb. I would not take Kroxigor over Razordons, personally. Razordons provide a defense to being charged, while also having a 12" shooting. A unit of 4 with handlers (which are required if you bring the Razors as part of TQ) provides 8D6 hit rolls, with hit re-rolls of 1, and TQ's options of re-rolling all hit or wound rolls. Kroxigor seem good on paper, but aren't worth the the same MPP as 4x Razordons.
I actually use kroxigors in the TQ instead of razordons. Ofcourse I also take razordons, but I want to teleport them. Inside the TQ kroxigors are worth it, mostly 12 attacks rerolling everything. Also rerolling saves and healing back up they arent that lack luster. But then againt, If I had 8 razordons, i might play that
