https://spikeybits.com/2019/04/rumors-new-models-battletome-for-sylvaneth-in-may.html This is all rumors but it doesn't look like we are next. Until it happens, i will be painting tzaangors, making a cheesy beasts lists.
Mind giving me the TL;DR - at work and that site is blocked. Assuming it is more than what is obvious from the URL. (Of course, all the sports-fans can access all their websites, but noo this is a GAME and UNSUITABLE)
New Battletome update over to AoS 2.0 There own dedicate Terrain piece (not the rebranded tree stands from Warhammer Fantasy) Warscroll Cards in the new format Branded Tree Dice One or two new character models. Release as early as May From the article. I think Lizards will likely get a book Q3 or Q4 to coincide with a Lizardmen BB release.
Apparently Tom from warhammer weekly heard seraphon in May with svaneth coming in June with the loon curse box
lets see. i didnt expect slaneesh this quickly, so everything is possible. Sylvaneth will come for sure but i was hoping for something more funnier like ogers, orcs and of course DINOSAURS. or maybe make sylvaneth a elf faction, so we get one of the base faction of fiction back
As much as I like the tree people (my wife has an army of them almost finished, and I painted a Treelord for her during the last few weeks) I think they have it pretty good now, compared to a lot of others. My buddy plays Greenskinz, Bonesplitterz and Ironjawz (notice a pattern there? ) and he basically doesn't stand a chance against either of my armies regardless of what he brings unless he is stupidly lucky in the first two rounds. Destruction needs some more new stuff far more urgently IMO.
exactly what i think. orcs need more love. greenskins are unplayable, bonesplitterz have a hard time and ironjaws are not my favor in orc flavouĀ“r. they look to much 40k
proper Orruks need some love yeah, Destruction currently seems to only exist out of grots & beastclaw raiders which is odd since the warhammer orruk is quite famous and the basis of a lot of the current archetype for orruks, more so than even Tolkien's orc's at times even if they ultimatly inspired warhammer.
They have done 1 or 2 stormcast heroes with severed Orruk heads on the bases or such, which is the most attention GW has given them since 2016...
RANDOM REDDIT RUMOR GO! "I was in my local GW today (Australia), with the staff member there sorting through a list of stock to be sent back to head office to be 'destroyed'. This list included the Fyrelsayers and Blades of Khorne Battletomes for AoS 1.0 (naturally), but curiously, also included the Seraphon and Beastclaw Raiders battletomes. Perhaps, this is to remove them from the shelves in preparation for releases in the near future. Interestingly, the Kharadron Overlords and Sylvaneth Battletomes were not on this list... Has anybody else had a similar experience inside their local GW? Stock is to be sent back within the next 2 weeks, so these updates might come very soon!" https://www.reddit.com/r/ageofsigmar/comments/bhm81h/next_releases/
To reiterate a fact we have known for a while: Seraphon Battletome is curiously webstore exclusive. That may be why it is on the ship-back list. Other battletomes that are webstore exclusive are the Everchosen and Dominions of Chaos. Beastclaw are NOT webstore exclusive. (for US webstore).
I know for a fact my local store has one hardcopy of the Seraphon Battletome. It's been on that shelf for months now and I think next time I go to the shop I'll ask the manager if it sold.
I just had a random talk in my local GW with the manager. He told me buying the book now was not a good decision...
Could it be that Seraphon is just not that popular? Dont get me wrong, they are the faction for me, but does anyone know if they sell well?
I think we are loosing more and more seraphon players, at least here in Spain. I understand it because we have 0 love from GW
Hmmm I think our popularity varies, with how our book is all over the place, with the FaQ's handbooks, some battalions no longer useable. It does turn away possible newcomers to the Seraphon, it's a lot to manage in a game where your stuff is everywhere. Then another thing is a lot of people like shiny new things, some of our kits are alright like the Skinks, Carno, Terradons/Rippers and a few others. Then there are the Kroxigor, Cold Ones, there is also the ones that sit on the fence like the Salamander, Razordon and Saurus. Then that is me going around and the many questions asked on alternatives for these models that I see, especially the Kroxigor. People see the ones from TW and they look at GW range and it makes them think a bit. Then I think another could be that well play a certain way, Slanns with certain units. Summoning all the way, sometimes people don't like collecting a mass horde army that relies on summons also. Then there is LoN but they are also capable of returning models to a unit without the need of new units, then I'm not sure how many Skeletons based armies there are, I see stuff with the more cavalries with the odd skeleton unit. That's just my thoughts
Hear hear (I'm from Spain too, and agree with the statement). But I think that's not the only problem, and may not even be the biggest problem. I think Lizardmen themselves are very popular, how many AoS factions have specific forums dedicated to them with this many followers? It's not that we are not competitive (we should be much less competitive with a 2015 battletome), it's not the miniatures themselves (they are cool enough that even for such old models, they keep getting bought), they even do appeal to new players (we have lizards riding dinosaurs!! what's not to like?). I think the biggest problem for our faction is that the most used miniatures in any competitive Seraphon list, (and some of the coolest models), at least in Spain, can only be bought via web: slann starmaster, razordons, stegadons, kroak, carnosaur/troglodon, salamanders, chameleon skinks, astrolith bearer, any saurus hero, skink starseer, kroxigors... this is, out of 23 different kits (start collecting included) we have access to, only 6 (skinks, terradon/rippers, bastilodon, guard, starpriest and start collecting) are directly available to be bought in stores. Now imagine you are a 16 year old kid that goes to your local game store, and have seen some awesome pictures of the dinosaurs models in some redditt post, or instagram, or whatever, and ask the store owner what he needs to start playing them, and he wants to be able to stand a chance in some games with their friends. Obviously, the store owner will tell him: "well kid, you need a slann, an astrolith bearer, a couple stegadons, a couple bastilodons, a couple razordons and a lot of skinks", and the kid, who is with his father, asks the owner if he has the miniatures, and he answers "well, almost all the models are webstore exclusive, i only have here the skinks and the bastiladons". "Can i play a gsme with those?", the kid asks. The answer, of course is "No". And what the kid will do? Wait 2 weeks to get the models? No, he will buy something else that there is in the store at the moment, probably SCE, skeletons, zombies or anything else. But he won't play Seraphon. I think that's one of the biggest problems when wanting to play Seraphon. P.S.: By the way, you can't buy a slann or razordons via web at the moment, they are "temporarily unavailable"
