I have this weird feeling that Death will also get another book this year, with the rumour engines and a small bit of text was found mentioning about someone who Nagash knows, another Mortarch apparently. This long wait, well don't really have the funds at the moment but the long wait But we will probably get the same treatment with the endless spells and scenery piece, fancy dice would be nice. Oh and also along with the warscroll cards. If we were to get a boxset like Carrion Empire and Looncurse I would guess it would be us vs a chaos army. With a unique hero for that box. Unless we suddenly decide to fight Death also.
Gloomspite Gitz were indeed beginning of January, although I wouldn't be surprised if GW were looking at doing Ogres after Sylvaneth. Also I'm similarly thinking that GW might be looking to do another Death faction - certainly the most recent Rumour Engine is showing a weapon with a very skeletal vibe: What the faction is going to be, though, I'm not sure. It might be that they do an all-Vampire army as they have a Vampire as front-and-centre on that Grand Alliances mural, although I really hope it's not that. Maybe that skeletal weapon is something to do with a new Skeleton faction, maybe an evolution of Tomb Kings? I can easily see them doing bone khopeshes similar to that. The other main one I was thinking of was something piratey like the Vampire Coast faction in Warhammer 2 Total War. I'm certainly interested to see what they do with the next Death faction because I'm not interested in any of the other Death factions and while I've got plans for armies from the other three Grand Alliances (Fyreslayers for Order, Gloomspite for Destruction and Skaven for Chaos), Death I'm currently at a loss as to which faction to choose. This new faction could help decide that for me.
I mean despite the fact that I brought them up, the problem with rumor engines is they can be almost anything by the end. A warcry faction, some bit for eldar or chaos in 40k? There are a bunch of other options and we won't know till it hits. Maybe we'll hear something this weekend tho.
Interesting. I like multiple aspects of Spawning pools actually as they would probably replace the Slann as the main summoning mechanic. Perhaps more importantly long term, I hope this is true, as that would give the Seraphon physical form in AoS and perhaps ground them more in the setting. Currently they seem a bit detached from everything, with no real presence in novels and stories and media in general, so I really hope that would be steps taken to reintroduce them more properly in the AoS setting as a whole. For example the current imaginary friends from the heavens are just a bit too out there to do any grounded stories about and they are not very relateable characters due to this. They are also far less defined and "fun" than demons, who already got fluff to ground them even more in AoS than they are in 40k exactly due to the current Seraphon issue. Stories about them just "popping up" and wrecking house as silent guardians to Slann is a bit dull in the long run.
Yeah I generally like the turns AoS seems to have taken with the fantasy word but the poor lizards could really use some grounding. I feel like they didn't really know what to do or didn't think through the implications? How do you have interesting characters that learn or change or grow when you're all just remembered heroes from a dead age. This is also probably why its hard to put them in an RPG, how do you write or roleplay that? If they could just edge them back into the physical world a bit it would be nice. But also this is why we have head cannon . If these were still the 8th ed lizards then spawning pool would be my best guess for terrain too, but in this new AoS world we'll have to wait and see with a bit more salt.
But... but.... GW already hinted that some of the Seraphon are "permanent", or you could say: "real" and just "teleported in" instead of imagined. That makes it a bit easier.
isn't.... isn't that the point? The Slann are enacting the will of the Old Ones... they are cold, calculating and act in ways that are mysterious and unfathomable. we are supposed to be detached from the rest of the realms. plus were a bit like the Hodor, in that saved the world and held the door shut to the last minute and gets no thanks for it.... there is canon that indicates if a summoned unit is left in an area for a while they become partially corporeal, they are still made of starstuff, but they bleed celestial purity (which has been used to clense corrupted zones),
That's probably why I've always been more interested in the cargo cultist skinks and their zealous and crafty fighters that have all the character and get things done. WFB lizardmen were basically just the imperium of man with frogs ;P
As someone who enjoys to see my factions of choice in other media, I guess my point is more that I'd like to see more Seraphon in the AoS narrative and from the Seraphon PoV as well. Right now I think they might just be too abstract and alien to base any books around and really get some solid storytelling going. I guess many would not care about that at all, there is just nothing that gets me going in a painting session than listening to a good audio book about the faction I am currently painting. Fingers crossed for Warhammer fest reveals... do we dare to hope?
I can see were you got the Eldar element from because of the jewel, but the haft of the weapon looks very much like a backbone with vertebra sticking out of it and the blade looks like a scythe or khopesh - it may be a weapon from a Warcry warband from the realm of Death, but I'm hoping it's something to do with a skeletal Tomb King-esque faction that has been enslaved by Nagash or something.
The rumor mill image of the spine is most likely related to this one. It very much fits the look of Nagash himselfm the mortarchs and the morghasts. I would not be surprised if they introduce a more "beefed up" version of the legions of Nagash, his elite guard maybe. The deathrattle seems a bit outdated and out of league fluff wise against the likes of Stormcasts, fyreslayers, bloodwarriors and hulking Ironjawz. I think they already announced no new miniatures for warbands except for the new chaos stuff for Warcry. I will be very surprised if this is anything but an addition to Legions of Nagash, or perhaps a new faction for death. Legions of Nagash is relatively new, but who knows, the faction does seem a bitter all over the place, with some outdated models and concepts.
Somehow I don't think it will be LoN. Dunno why. Probably because they have one of the newest Battletomes and are one of the strongest armies in the game with almost all roles available. I just cannot imagine they will get another release now.
I'm thinking it's a premise for a new Death faction. I honestly want this to be so because the existing ones just have no appeal to me whatsoever and unless an interesting one does come round I certainly wouldn't be able to participate in the 'one army for each Grand Alliance' collecting scheme that most AoS players do. This is essentially what I believe - LoN was the third newest 1st Edition book (after Idoneth and Daughters of Khaine), and given that there are so many other armies that need either new Battletomes or their first one ever, if GW decided to give Vampire Counts 2.0 new stuff this early they would have no sense of justice.
Forbidden Power story posted on GW Site. Looks like it will be a regular thing for a while. This one is Skaven vs death related based guy?
Yes I understand that I'm just saying here's a bit of salt, a splash of cold water even. This could end up being anything. Same thing with the scales the person who posted the savage orc shaman isn't wrong like they may not be ours at all either. They're basically a rorschach test for your hopes and dreams
It's showcasing one of the Endless Spells for Forbidden Power (indeed it's heralded as a 'Tale of Forbidden Power') - it's already been revealed in a previous Warhammer Community preview, so it means that'll most likely be coming out next Saturday.
I'm with you on that, the Malign Portents ones were good; anything that bolsters AOS's background is always welcome.
