Hi, I recently got some skinks and was thinking about magnetizing them. They are really small though, and I was wondering if it was even worth it. Most people seem to agree that blowpipes are superior because of their longer range. Are there any situations where javelins would be better, or should I just glue the blowpipes and shields on and not bother with the Javelins? I'm building a mostly defensive army with guards, Oldblood on Carnosaur and Bastiladons so I would want to give them weapons that work well with this playstyle. Thanks!
Blotspitters and Shield are the right choice 95% of the time. I do like a unit of 20 Jav and Shield Skinks to use with Shadowstrike though. I woudln't bother to magnatize them either way.
I keep Skinks that will be starting on the board with shields and blowpipes. I made my skinks that will be summoned in with spears and clubs, for a few reasons. the horde bonus only affects the shooting phase. the summoned skinks are just there to speed bump, and IF they survive or you charge the enemy... they can do some decent damage with the spear/club combo. this is more effective against a army that doesn't summon replacements, and is devastated by a first attack from a unit with -1 rend (cuz the shield is gone) but that's just me @LizardWizard is the expert lol
I wasn’t even aware that Spears and Clubs were legal - based on the Warscroll, it seemed the only allowed combinations are Clubs and Boltspitters, Clubs and Shields, Spears and Shields and Boltspitters and Shields
It is worded that way, I didn't even realize, but logic-hammer says if I can carry a ranged weapon and club I can carry a different ranged weapon and club lol. I am SOOOOOO not remaking those skinks... that's 30 fully painted and assembled with over 90 hours of work into them Skinks.... those clubs are gonna start counting as very thin shields lmao
I don’t think you need to worry about it - it seems a bit odd that you can’t do it anyway, and outside of official tournaments I don’t think anyone’ll kick up too much of a fuss!

Over the years (WHFB included) it's been back and forth between javs and blowpipes several times. magnetizing skinks will be a huge PITA, but if history is any indication, there's no guarantee blowpipes will always be the best. At the moment it really doesn't matter that much, simply because the damage skinks output even at the best of times is almost non existant.
Yes and that had been addressed, in my first post I explained the 5% of the time that you wouldn't take blowpipes and shields.... and then found out through out the evolution of the thread I had been cheating lol. when I replied to you I thought you were responding to the current direction of the thread which was my incorrectly matched weapon options.
Meh, you can get plenty of spare skinks. Skinks themselves are sold per 24, there's several leftovers in the EoTG and bastiladon kits (or well, fitting all of em on there tends to be a pain). If you build most with blowpipes and the leftovers with javalins you'l get a nice mix soon enough.
