So carnosaurs are awesome. I may be biased but from what I have been seeing multiple times is them having incredible performance despite their outdated warscrolls. As for pessimism: “how da frig did you win” may describe @LizardWizard and his wargaming, but in my case it describes my life! Wait why is this a good thing...
Oh, I know how I win. My opponents just don't understand how it happens and never believe it is calculated from the start. So, it is better to be like, "I don't know man. Frankly it is baffling, thanks for the store credit."
The smaller tournaments that I attend normally give prize support with store credit that can be spent on products in shop.
That's amazing, like actual GW stores or third-party hobby shops? I'd love to participate in those tournaments!
Third Party Hobby shops. There's a store about 2 hours from where I live that host monthy AoS events. The gaming club I belong too carpools to the events almost every month. There is a $15.00 entry fee and I normally take home about $40.00 in prizes. There're always around 20 or more participants and the prize pool is split between 1st place, 2nd place, favorite army, and favorite opponent.
Those are epic places you've got around! I'm moving to Marseille next week, I really hope there are events like that, it sounds great!
We have a hobby store here that gives store credit for tournament wins as well. It's a nice incentive to play there. I got $15 from my last tournament there and put it towards and EoTG today. With store discount, I paid $40 instead of $58.
