I mean you literally described them without the actual title of Khorne worshipper. it just goes back to the fact that minus the batshit crazy portion... there are "good" people that worship Khorne. and if you read up on Khorne he doesn't care if you do your violence in his name or not. he still gathers the power from the violence. so despite it being unintentional... the Blood angels ARE serving him lol.

in all it almost seems like a huge missed opportunity by GW in their attempt to pigeon hole order/imperium as the "good" guys. honorable anti magic barbarians that love a good fight? Fyreslayers? maybe not so "order"ly after all lol

well yes, in a roundabout way nearly everything that is done ends up "serving" one of the chaos gods due to how the chaos gods gain power. However when you say "serve" I would say you'd need to activly be worshipping that particular god and be aware of it (or at least that you're worshipping something, you may not know it's Khorne and call him John instead for all I care). And that was my point, noone who purposely serves the chaos gods is ever represented as sane, at least not for long.

And yeah, it's a missed oppertunity. It'd allow for some interesting stories and interactions if say a Tzeentch warlord could stop yelling just as planned while transforming hapless innocents into tentacled monstrosities for long enough to team up with say a Skink priest or SCE wizard to go and fight a bigger common foe, say Nagash. Plus it'd make for some interesting societies to read fluff about.

Rumor engine can be something coming out in a few week to like 9 months. Probably no lizards till late summer at the earliest. In the mean time play some games, paint some dinosaurs, enjoy life?

It would be cheaper and more reliable to run 2 organ guns and a cogsmith 40 less points rerolling failed gun checks means 3 barrels drops from a 1 in 3 to a 1 in 9 chance to jam or 4 barrels is 1 in 4. You also don't have to worry about losing him and losing the buff if he dies your guns are probably dead to

Perhaps there's hope for some adaptation of Tichi-Huichi's Raiders? Just because the Old World blew up doesn't mean there couldn't be any lost plaques that need to be recovered.

I would LOVE that. If they get the Seraphon keyword that is.

yea i think they have their own : Mercenary companies each have a special rule of their own and the Mercenary keyword, differentiating them from the ‘normal’ versions of these units and giving them all a distinct feel on the battlefield. - link: https://www.warhammer-community.com...k-2019-mercenary-companiesgw-homepage-post-2/

I think I might take some of those barbarians and use the mercenary rules, but lore-wise say that they are lobotomized barbarian slaves who serve the Lizardmen. Probably add some Seraphon feathers and glyphs and stuff to them so their style fits their masters.

Now we should obviously discuss about the new format for 1000 pts.

    Sounds interesting...

Looks cool! I wonder how something like Shadowstrike works in it...
Overall, it will definitely be played in my household (currently play skirmish with my kid)

If I read it right, no max sized units so no blob of 40 Saururs. Only 2 of any warscroll. Behemoths can't be in turn 1 until after the first movement phase so no EOTG summoning turn 1. Only 1 endless spell means no bailwind and cogs(might be overkill in 1k, honestly I have zero experience with seraphon at this point range). No artillery till turn 2(sorry for those who own lots of razordons). At least we can teleport?

These were just some of the restrictions I remember. Not being negative just thinking of what's different. Obviously they mentioned seraphon will be in the generals book, so who knows what changes if any that will bring. Hopefully it's more then just faq and erratas ported over.

I do like it on first glance, although I have to say that it hurts horde armies a lot. Both Skeletons and Saurus Warriors for example aren't exactly useful if they are minimum sized.

I fear the same and honestly doubt major changes or any significant changes to Saururs coming until we get a new battletome. Maybe small tweaks to summoning and possibly teleport being changed for something else.

...on the other side, temple guards could last longer.

And we can still field a shadowstrike with "only" 3 rippers since turn 1.
Should deliver a hard blow to the first wave of our opponent.

Eh interesting.. but also seems ridiculously unbalanced in favor of certain armies. Horde armies are essentially screwed unless they finally overhaul horde mechanics to be less binary so minimum sized units are actually functional. And armies that rely on behemoths & artillery have significant problems as well. Which is rather bad as those classifications are fairly arbitrary. For example Razordons are artillery, but there's plenty of "normal" ranged troops that easily outgun them.

The limations numberswise seem rather harsh and arbitrary (who's fielding multiple battalions in 1000 point games? Or bringing enough endless spells to be problematic?)

As for the actual idea, seems neat. But with your rearguard appearing so late and games only lasting 5 turns it seems a tad impractical. If you're second in the third turn more than half the battle has already been fought and only now does your rearguard show up to actually do anything.

At least it makes me hope they'l finally do something to have horde mechanics be a tad more sensible so these units can actually function at smaller sizes.

I like this format - I like it a lot, because it prevents massive deathstar hordes from being used in such a low points limit, and also adds in a lot more tactics to such smaller games.

That and you really need to plan what units come at what point in battle and how they can be used.
