Remember me? A few years back, I was pretty active on here in the time of 8th/the changeover to Age of Sigmar. I drafted a number of tacticas/resources before fading out as life stuff took over. I think I wrote those back in 2016 or 2017? I'm back for a bit! I'm curious about the state of the game, the state of Lizardmen, any coming updates, and so on. Back then, there was no structure for balancing games. I used to go by wound- & battalion-count. Has that changed? Any major rules changes? Blistering errata? Huge meta shifts? Where can I find that stuff? Hopefully they didn't change pile-in! Those formations were beast. Anyway, fill me in! Hope y'all been well.
There were quite some rules changes since them, but most of them are pretty good IMO. Piling in changed a tiny bit since the first AoS edition, but nothing serious.
The thing that changed about piling in is: Previously, you could only pile in towards the closest enemy model before having to stop, now, you can pile in even if you’re right next to someone – provided you don’t move any further away from the nearest enemy model.
Reading up on Celestial Conjuration points now -- yikes! Looks like summoning took a blow. How many points per game do y'all typically rack up? Given your army's composition, how do you usually spend your points? Looks like the max generated is 13 per turn? And summoning now happens at the end of/during the movement phase? Disappointing for our Stalker...
No, in fact it got a lot better! No more reinforcement points you have to save. It is just.. more a part of the game now, and more versatile. It also makes some units viable that are not that great normally, just because they fit into a niche. The most popular summons for me are Skinks, Rippers, Troglodons, and Terradons. Using the endless spells to get more spell slots the maximum is: Kroak as general + Balewind + Chronomantic Cogs + Astrolith = 18 + 1 + 1d3 points per turn.
Oh interesting. I haven't heard of almost any of those things, but I'll look into them. Where can I find resources for this stuff? Rules? "Mortal Realms?" A complete Celestial Conjuration points table? All that? I have the WH AoS app but nothing else.
The app has the rules for the units and endless spells at least. Just type "endless" and you will see them all. As for all the rules... I fear you will need the newest GHB.
Uhmm... no. Some rules are in other books. The realm rules are among those. I admit I forgot which rules are where. I don't like that but I guess that's how GW rolls.
If I’m not mistaken the realm rules are in the big core rule book and the realm artefacts and such are in malign sorcery. You can probably find copies of the stuff you need online though.
Welcome back. AoS 2.0 is a great rules set. If you left before first GHB arrived then you are in for some astounding changes. The state of the game currently is the best it has been since the games release.
Welcome Back. The points are in the GHB2019, but you can also find them here: https://www.warhammer-community.com/warscroll-builder/ There you can also choose your artifacts, of which you can find the rules (kind of) here: https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Age_of_Sigmar/Tactics/Malign_Sorcery Of course buying the books are ideal, I would recommend buying the GHB2019, since it has some updates to our Lizards, nothing you can't find online, but it's nice to have. Don't know when it happened, but if you don't know, Kroak got nerfed rather hard, which is very sad . On thr bright side our Carnosaurs got buffed by getting cheaper.
Also Skinks got nerfed via points and Saurus the opposite. Skinks are still our best option though, but having a few Units of Saurus is rather good for summoning these days
That's ok -- never used Kroak (or any named stuff), so I don't even know what I'm missing. I just downloaded the $15 book off the app and I've been flipping through the general rules. There's so much more stuff to think about now! Very happy to see that points costs sorta cater to my playstyle.
Saurus, beasts, and Skrox-heavy back in 2016 when Scalenex was pinning my unit formation & tactica write-ups!
Can someone help me out with the Core Book's pitched battle profiles? What do the orange dots mean? Some units have orange dots in the leftmost columns. I can't find anything about them in the book.
