So I played a version of this list without the knight Incantor and comet since I don't own them. I had one unit of 10 Saurus knights and an extra priest with Purple Sun in the list. The reason to run it in DT is not just to one drop and go first but to be able to bring down Kroak and or a priest from the heavens with its Deepstrike mechanic have them cast there things and with Great Rememberer teleport them both back to safety. I personally liked it better plus having and extra lore spell didn't hurt. Although I do know that comet can be brutal on some lists. I need to play more with it since it can be swingy with rolls and I need to screen things better.
Everblaze and Knight-Incator are better than +1 Starpriest and Jaws in my opinion. Primarily due to the range on Everblaze Comet being insane. This means you can save your LoSaT for Kroak or your Slann Starmaster. Comet also can't be turned back onto you. Having an auto unbind is always useful as well. The drawbacks would be that the Knight is not part of your battalion. The ability to deepstrike and dictate turns is a potent tool. In this case I think it is better to control the flow of the game and be able to place your MW output where it is most needed at the most opportune moments. I love Shadowstrike. It is what I play in almost every list I have ever brought to a tournament. However, for double Slann MW spam I do think that DT is better.
@LizardWizard Think Fangs of Sotek could drop the Scar Vet. on Carno for a Knight-Incantor + Everblaze?
Please forgive my naive questions, but how do you utilize the Shadowstrike features in a "Meeting Engagement" force? -Can you move any of your units the extra time when you first set them up, or only with the spearhead (the first units placed)? -When your main body comes on the field, can you have your flyers in the sky? Thank you.
You take SS for the additional Artifacts and Command Traits. If you get lucky you can also use the Stealthy Advance. In Meeting Engagements you can not depoly anything as an off the field affect. The list needs to be reworked and I will probably drop the battalion from it.
Meeting Engagement: Purple Sun Allegiance: Seraphon - Mortal Realm: Ghur SPEARHEAD: Skink Priest (80) - General - Command Trait : Nimble - Cloak of Feathers - Artefact : Gryph-feather Charm 10 x Skinks (70) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 10 x Chameleon Skinks (220) MAIN BODY: Skink Starpriest (80) - Spell : Meteoric Convocation Saurus Eternity Warden (140) 10 x Saurus Guard (160) REARGUARD: 2 x Razordons (100) 2 x Razordons (100) ENDLESS SPELLS / TERRAIN: Purple Sun of Shyish (50) TOTAL: 1000/1000 EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 0 WOUNDS: 57 Return to Index
I <3 Purple Sun! I am putting it in a bunch of my lists. Constellation + Banner + Great Remember = Casting the Sun turn 1 with +2 to cast and getting it into their front lines.
@LizardWizard Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but how does your 2k Thunderquake list have 3 extra command points?
It doesn't. I wrote the list on the app before points changes rolled over. I was 100 MPP short so it auto added the extra CP and I missed it.
may i ask why this choice? woudn't it be better to field 1 unit of 3 razors? you would save 80 pts AND you can use your single LoSaT to teleport your artillery immediately in shooting range .
It is due to the rules of Meeting Engagements. You can only have two units of Artillery, those units have to be in the Rearguard, and you can't have more than double any units max size in any units.
In the GHB19, if I’m reading it correct, states that only battleline units can be double sized in your main body as part of a meeting engagement. In your Meeting Engagement List - Shadowstrike Starhost w/Rippderdactyls, you have a unit of 6 in the main body. Did I miss something or would you have to split it and have 3 in the rearguard? Or would you change the list entirely? EDIT: If it works in that manner then the same would apply to Purple Sun - Chameleons in the spearhead and the Shadowstrike Terradons & Chameleons.
You are correct. I missed they had to be battleline or in the rearguard. I will have to retoll those. list.
Sorry if this derails the current line of discussion, but could your FoS list work with no endless spells and skinks and in their place is a stegadon? I like FoS but I need some variety and ability to add shooting to a list that is primarily Melee, especially as I need a way to add some shooting against slaanesh.
You can certainly drop the Skinks and BWV. The Cogs add a lot of flexibility, but it isn't crucial either. If you want to add in shooting then I would look to Razordons instead of the Steggy.
