In an utterly vile display of favouritism, GW has decided to release the new Space Marine crap, previewed only yesterday, before any of the AoS stuff previewed last week or the specialist stuff previewed on Thursday. It’s pathetic - of course Primaris Marines get a codex with brand new artwork, but I imagine next time GW updates another race, they’ll still use the old 6th-7th Edition book art and make it a ‘Mk II’ Codex like with Chaos Marines, as is the lazy and tight-fisted nature of 40K 8th Edition. What’s worse, it looks as though GW are going to milk it over at least two or three weeks.

(An interesting aside is that the new Space Marine codex art has gone back to the style of 5th Edition 40K and previous, where the army is shown in action, rather than a piece with a single bloke standing there as has been the case since 6th Edition - obviously Ray Swanland was starting to get annoyed at the patheticness of 8th Edition like everyone else and either resigned or simply said he wasn’t going to do anymore).

Also do note, several specific chapters like the blood angels have their own specific supplement book. Cuz I guess GW hates trees and wants you to carry an entire library around.

In all seriousness though, what's with the rules being so split up. GHB/chapter approved, the codex/battletome for your faction, additional books like malign portents, a specific supplement book, even without the pdf's for F.A.Q's you need an insane amount of books to play, and they keep on pumping them out at an asthonishing rate.

Way more. I would imagine that Space Marines account for over 50% of all their revenue.

    Pretty much.
Space Marines are popular so they have priority.

Another tithe video. Doesn't look very tombs-kings-y. Though the skeletons do have more of their own look as opposed to the usual undeath.

Also interesting that the character refers to himself as an emporer. Maybe finally an undeath character that opposes Nagash. Though it doesn't look different enough to really be a seperate faction, it's still just skeletons. Why can't we just move on from undeath..

The whole tithe is getting weird though as it seems random living people are (willingly?) paying/sacrificing bones to placate the guy. Would've expected it to either be some sort of cult, or him just going around murdering things to fullfill the tithe. Not having people trying to actually pay him off.

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like Tomb Kings, you’re right, but it shows what looks more like a Bretonnian city than an Imperial/Freeguild one (the populace were clothed in medieval attire rather than Renaissance and the buildings looked Old-World style), and the final shot of the Emperor and his allies looks very Medieval with the hooded figures, so... Skeletal Bretonnians perhaps?

And yes, the fact that he proclaims himself an Emperor means could he be trying to outdo Nagash? That would be good to see - an Undead faction that doesn’t serve Nagash.

I’m still interested to see how they turn out anyway - liking the Medieval aesthetics so far.

    I think I like what I see.
    Reasoning:
    - I like cavalry, and that skeletal rhino mount is right up my alley. I hope there is more skeleton cavalry.
    - Style looks a bit like Arkhan, Nagash, and the Morghasts, which I like.
    - Skeleton trebuchets? Yep, I like.
    - Endless hordes of skeletons to go with them? I already have them, I would like that.

Looks like undead Persians, which to me is a theme I didn't know that I was interested to see explored.

I may not use them for age of Sigmar (although that is a maybe) but I definitely like them and I look forward to the full release information at nova

meh, not pleased with it saying Mortarch… I Don't want yet another death faction that is bound to Nagash. Freaking chaos is less threatening than Nagash, at least Chaos isn't unified under a single will in perpetuality.

Certainly this video reassures me that this new faction, while not Tomb Kings returned, are still going to be their ‘spiritual successor’ as some hopefuls on TGA were saying - heavy Skeleton Warriors a la Tomb Guard, Skeleton Horsemen, Screaming Skull Catapults 2.0 and heavily armoured Skeleton leaders. I like these chaps a lot, and the especially good news is that GW will be previewing them in more detail at Nova which isn’t far away, meaning they, alongside the Ogres as the two faction seem to be intertwined, will come just after Orc Warclans and Cities of Sigmar @DeathBringer125. I do agree with @Canas that it’s annoying to see another Death faction aligned with Nagash, but I’m just pleased to see a decent-looking Death faction for once.

Like the idea of skeletal Persians @Lord-Marcus, that would explain the Eastern accent and the relentlessness of the Achemenid Persian Empire would certainly fit these chaps well. The leaders also have a Samurai vibe to their armour.

This means I can give quite an accurate prediction of what’s coming for the rest of this year - Aeronautica Imperialis will be arriving next week, so I’m pretty sure GW will use September to release Beastsgrave (1 week for the starter set and 1 for the two warbands from the two Grand Alliances not featured in the starter set) and the Battletomes and accessories for Orc Warclans and Cities of Sigmar. October will probably be then reserved for the awful Sisters of Battle that GW have been torturing us with for the majority of the year, leaving November for the new Skeleton faction and the Ogre update. December will then be reserved for Christmas stuff, and I’m expecting GW will then release the Kurnothi, who have been teased in Beastsgrave, in January, as that has always been an AoS month (this year it was Gloomspite, last year it was Maggotkin, the year before I believe was Disciples of Tzeentch and the year before that I think was Seraphon).
