IF TOW is a faithful successor to WFB, I think both KoW and T9A will suffer. There is no doubt that Kings of War benefited greatly from the death of WFB, as the largest competitor in the market was removed. They may have different rule sets but they are the same type of game, vying for the same player base. I liken it to you opening a brick and mortar store and Amazon rolls around selling similar products. Your store and amazon have different "rule sets", but they are going to carve a significant chunk out of your business. We can already see the early signs of it, as the recent KoW 3rd edition launch has been completely overshadowed by a couple of memes released by GW about the Old World. Nobody wants competition, especially not the return of the industry leader when it comes to mass battle wargames.
If Seraphon gets new models that doesn't have the mesoamerican aesthetics, I won't have a part in it. It's the only race that 'survived' the old world, and shouldn't receive a massive model overhaul, at least not in the sense that some suggests. Updated models would be fine, as it keeps in track with the lore... But no futuristic space lizard theme, just no.
In fairness, how much of a following does KoW really have compared to GW? The red paint handle GW released a little while back probably overshadowed the KoW 3 release by sheer virtue of GW's massive fanbase & social media cloud (outside of this forum I haven't ever even seen KoW...) Also, out of curiousity, how do KoW & WFB differ exactly? What's the main difference on which GW would draw in people with it's new? old world nonsense, besides nostalgia and a more expansive fluff?
The King is back! (maybe... time will tell) That is pretty much my point. KoW will now be facing a far more powerful competitor once TOW drops in a few years time. I haven't really seen KoW inside this forum . Any number of my random threads have more posts in it than the entritey of the KoW sub-forum. Not saying that KoW is a bad game (I haven't played it... it could be fantastic) but it doesn't appear to be very popular.
KoW is quite big in Aus. one of our biggest events called CanCon had 51 spots taken up which sold out very quickly. https://tabletop.to/clash-of-kings-australia-2019 Our Clash of Kings tournament for 2020 has 100 spots open and my understanding a fair bit of the spots are taken. So yes - might not be talked on this forum but it is getting played a fair bit. It is quite popular also in a few local gaming clubs/stores. Guess it depends on regions / countries.
I don't know what this has to do with Giants, looks more like something Orcy or Orky to me. Most likely Orcy, as the column is more akin to the Age of Sigmar scenery recently released.
Assuming the skulls are to scale with others, this would be quite a large piece. So I will second the idea to it being a Giants weapon. Or it could be an Orruk/Ogor item. Just from how its built. But most likely it's a Giants club
the hammfisted hint drop at the end of the old world teaser makes me think giant. the orks and ogars just came out if they where getting models it should have been then. it dosent have chaos iconography so im thinking a new gargant skulpt.
Definitely feels like it should goes to some kind of gargant weapon. A new kit for a chaos gargant perhaps or even an order aligned gargant could be interesting but that seems unlikely... Probably just an Ogor unit for beastgrave for all i know.
I think it looks like the barrel of a cannon or some kind of ranged siege engine....maybe Skaven? Looks more Skaven to me
Yeah I also don't think it looks Skaven style. I'd say it is something out of Destruction or the more barbaric parts of Chaos.
It also looks far too solid for a barrel of a gun/cannon. Unless they cut it out or rock for some reason.
You know... I've been looking at the rumor engine pic, and I'm getting the idea of a cannon barrel. A BIG cannon barrel. Could be a new Ironblaster sculpt for the Ogor Mawtribes... Look at it. If you turn it so the skulls are facing down, that's a cannon barrel with reinforcing strapping banded around it. I'm voting Ironblaster. I mean, it COULD be a big freaking hammer-head, but it just screams crude cannon to me.
