AoS NEW *rumor*

The only thing keeping me going is a slim chance we are getting a huge update with new models. There was a rumour new models had been done but they were waiting for the right time to release them.ant remember where I saw that though so take a planet full of salt on that

I expected this. KO and Tzeench are not out yet and generally GW announces their next update a week or so after their actual release. I'm hopeful for a Feburary release or Adepticon announcement.

Reminds me when I asked about some of the models back when AoS got released, I was at Expo and asked about the models being released separately later, got a maybe but behold, about a year later it happened.
Then I would guess they said Seraphon will get a book because being the last of 1.0, it's a bit obvious, the chances are slim of axing as I mostly look at upgraded books from 1.0. Most of the axing of models came from factions that never even had a proper book (Not counting those grand alliance books)
It's a moment of when will the Seraphon come, before a brand new army or after?

Edit: Mostly saying this cause people keep telling me they are being axed, how they like messing with me.
Yeah staff of GW really can't say anything, only vague hints and such

If anyone thinks Seraphon is getting axed, they're crazy

Well looking at the news, I am somewhat excited for the new Shadowsun model as I play tau, but overall this morning reveal is disappointing. Seraphon are easily the most neglected faction in AoS and the fact that they seem to have been actively denying us an update is ridiculous.

edit: if we have similar luck to last year it’s very possible that we simply may not get anything

Yeah, Sisters were the longest neglected army of 40k, and now it's selling like it's hot. So looks like GW was on the money with the decision to revive them. For 40k Lore Nerds they are an important part of the Imperium, very nice to see them on the tabletop again. And even though they don't interest me one bit, I look forward to playing against them.

"Tomb Kings are dead, so every other faction sharing the same fate needs to stay dead too as long as it's not the faction I want to see coming back." - That's not an argument whatsoever.

Although I don't even know why I am trying to make a point here, from the tone of your post it is pretty clear that you need a break from the hobby.
(and that is coming from a main Tyranid/GSC player that is pretty damn salty himself currently).

KO have evrything as battle line now depending on what port they are from
Arkanaut Company Always
Arkanaut Frigate Battleline if Barak-Zilfin
Endrinriggers Battleline if general is Endrinmaster with Dirigible Suit
Skywardens Battleline if general is Endrinmaster with Dirigible Suit
Grundstok Gunhauler Battleline if Barak-Urbaz
Grundstok Thunderers Battleline if Barak-Nar

Maybe in our eventual new battletome we'll be able to take Rippers or Terradon as battleline haha

But because some things are dependent on different ports, that avoids absolutely everything becoming battleline, as if you play Barak-Zilfin, for example, you can't take Grundstok stuff as battleline, which I would say still makes it balanced.

yup but you can play what you like and can ignore what you don't i like this compromise

I think it's in the realm of possibilities. A few factions have gotten this treatment if not almost all of them iirc, at least FeC, Skaven, Gits and BcR come to mind.

That being said playing a Seraphon Airforce would be totally fun, maybe they let us put a priest on a Terradon, Tiqtak'to style!

Yeah, Sisters were the longest neglected army of 40k, and now it's selling like it's hot. So looks like GW was on the money with the decision to revive them.

What I don't understand is WHY are they selling so well now when they were so unpopular before? They're not exactly groundbreaking in their aesthetics, lore or playstyle (why play Sisters when you can play Space Marines who are pretty much the same thing only 100 times cooler?)

For 40k Lore Nerds they are an important part of the Imperium, very nice to see them on the tabletop again.

Well, for Fantasy fans Tomb Kings were an important part of the lore, as they are (inadvertently) essential in the rise of Nagash and the remnants of the first human civilisation in the Warhammer world. What's more, they were their own unique faction unlike anything seen before in the world of Fantasy gaming (there were mummies and stuff before, but they were bunched up with Vampires and the more gothic undead). Sisters on the other hand are essentially redundant when you've already got Space Marines, a faction that has absolutely everything.

I'm not saying every faction that was similarly unpopular as Tomb Kings deserved to be removed, I was just saying that if GW had had to drop one army due to it being unpopular, there were more fitting candidates than Tomb Kings out there, and it was pretty obvious that Sisters was at the top of that list.

Everyone is entitled to being frustrated. A lot of people moaned and groaned when GW released the Ossiarch Bonereapers, an army that was so controversial in its design aesthetics in some ways. Admittedly I did use more bad language than I normally do, and I apologise for that, but I was expecting at least something new and interesting from this open day, and it failed miserably at that. I feel sorry for all those who turned up there to see anything new being revealed first-hand, only to see that it was mostly a reiteration of stuff that GW have advertised before.

good news every one the changeling has 3" teleportation we might be able to keep ours

O, I like this new scroll. It's a more powerfull caster, it can actually hurt something in melee now having 3 attacks instead of a measly 1. Makes me hopefull that their heroes in general will now be halfway capable instead of completly harmless in melee.

The teleport is a bit weird though. In the old version he couldn't be attacked until he attacked himself. Now he's left completly vulnerable. So unless he immeadiatly summons a lot of horrors to protect himself with that's a very risky thing to do.

And bit of a shame that the trickster staff lost it's unique ability. It wasn't very powerfull, as it dependent too much on the target, but it was quite hilarious to just blow up some combat hero with his own attacks on occasion.

And for anyone who says that Sisters are more original than Bretonnia or Tomb Kings, all Sisters are are female Space Marines with the mannerisms of nuns, accompanied by a load of deranged priests and mutated monsters. They have weirdness, yes, eccentricity, yes, originality, no.

meh, the sisters are "original" on account of it being a true 40K army. They very much embody all the grimdark, insanity & oversized guns that is 40K. Within 40K they're not super original as they're indeed essentially just female space marines, combined with even more religious zealotry. But when you see them you do immeadiatly think 40K.

Bretonnia & tomb kings however weren't the embodiment of WFB, they were merely fairly generic fantasy tropes (especially bretonia). Within WFB they were relativly original as there aren't any similar factions.

And I think that is the biggest difference here. Sisters are original when compared to the competition, there aren't a whole lot of sci-fi universes with zealot nuns in power-armour who burn the impure while spreading the good word, whereas there's god knows how many fantasy universes that have arthurian knights or egyptian monsters in them.

Well they are not really that simillar now to be honest. They really revolve around their miracle dice mechanic and the whole martyrdom thematic.
The miniatures are waaay deeper in the gothic aesthetic than any of the new Space Marine releases.
Don't get me wrong I like them, but imho they could look more like gothic knights, nowadays they look more like the standard sci fi warrior wearing fancy armor.

But hey nobody has the same taste and one of the best parts about this hobby is that there is an army/faction with a style for almost everyone.

Ah well i was beaten to it

Horny teenagers discovered them I guess?

In all honesty, before I started really getting into 40K there were a few images I would occasionally see online:
1) Space marines
2) Orks
3) Sisters of battle (AKA "hot" space marines).
4) The guard

I think they might've always been quite popular outside the actual 40K fandom, and were one of the factions drawing people's attention to go and have a look at 40K. And with internet acces become more common and better that group eventually reached a critical mass.
