I was a little sceptical of a new saurus release, after they used the guard as a drummer for their music thing. Still excited about a new book though.
I mean, he's older than time - I'm sure he now some prediction stuff, aside from sending nukes on top of the enemies.
Meh not a fan of the new aelves, they look too much like an army on parade in ceremonial armour. Would've prefered it if they stuck a bit closer to the original aelves, that would also have allowed you to keep using the old models to some extent at least. Also, yet another god getting tabletop rules, that's not good. A new tome is great news, a terrain piece is nice. But no endless spells would be weird. Maybe they'l give us something weird there, like how CoS can cast all realm spells but have no spell lore of their own.
Disappointing, the great hope was still on that rumor engine looking like a dino tail of sorts, but of course it was not Seraphon, of all things it was a Zoat! Nothing at all indicates new models, not even endless spells shown. Sort of worried so far, new rules is nice and all, the artwork looks awesome but only puts into contrast how outdated the current warriors and guards look.
I'm 100% sure that you will be able to use old HE models, along with new one. If not, that's just outright stupid.
The bulk of em got absorbed into CoS, then there's some that got discontinued like the spireguard or reavers: I don't think these would mix very well with these new aelves. The new aelves seem to be more heavily armoured, have their new feathery things And the general shape of their armour has also changed significantly. They old ones would look very out of place.
Very nice news to wake up to! Hopefully the book will make as many as possible happy =) Random guesses/predictions time: The pyramid will be the new mechanic for summoning, though a Slann can probably interact with it somehow. Teleportation will only be possible to and from an area within 18" of the pyramid. Slann, Astrolith Bearers, and possibly to a lesser extent Troglodons will act as range extenders for the pyramid. I agree with PabloTho that the Coalesced might sacrifice summoning and/or teleportation in return for a noticeable increase in combat proficiency and hardiness. Obviously stat lines and costs will be tuned across the board. I have absolutely zero facts or sources to base any of this on, just me making guesses based on a single word and an image ^^
I think the old HE can blend decently with the new ones with a cohesive paint job and some minor kitbashing. Probably switching heads/helms to the newer ones is that is going to impact the most. Are the new ælves on 32mm bases?
I Hope the skink heroes get to interact with it too. If only to make the slann less mandatory. Doubt it, our teleport is far from unique, there's no need to limit it this severly. Though I wouldn't be surprised if summoning would now also be possible around the pyramid. yeah, I very much expect them to get something, the CoS battlemages are a good example of how to solve it without endless spells.
CoS mages can pick from the lists of realm spells. Regardless of what realm you're playing in (or even are playing in a realm).
One thing I hope this means. That finally Seraphon will get representation in Warcry and Underworlds. I think it's a great update. Really there is nothing wrong with the seraphon range. Did you really want to have to paint all those Saurus all over again anyway? Like everyone else, I am hoping for non Slann dependant armies. I would like to see the Skink Starseer be able to summon as well. With that said, the new high elf faction looks amazing.
Woah, that's awesome. So you can use lore of Chamon, while in Shyish? I hope we can get this kind of ability
