A project I did a few years ago is remarkable in its similarity to the meme (it’s a bread version of the leopard gecko, and yes we make challah bread even though we aren’t religious because dam it tastes good)
In my opinion the sentiment expressed against immigrants was wrong. In my opinion the woman's response was also wrong. Unless the woman is extremely foolish, she knows she is not going to sway anyone by saying "I'm offended!" and adopting the posture and props of a straw feminist. Doing so will only cause her political opponents to dig in and double down on their original stance. Given that she is not going to advance the cause of immigrant rights the only thing she has to gain is to virtue signal "I'm a good person! Look at me!" I believe that she is sabotaging the cause of immigrant rights so she can feel good about herself. Or maybe she doesn't care about virtue signaling and just enjoys arguing. That's only slightly less amoral than virtue signalling. If you want to sway someone to change their views you need to use a logical argument, an emotional appeal, or bribe them. Putting on a costume and scowling is not going to sway anyone.
This turned out badly but it wasn't just about McDonalds picking on a little local chain. At least with American copywright law, if a company is shown not defending their trademark, they can lose it. Asprin used to be a brand name, now it's the common word. Trampoline used to be a brand name, now it's the common word. If the brand name ever becomes the common word, they lose their trademark rights. I don't remember which company owns the right to Kleenex but they are RUTHLESS suing anyone who uses the term to "Kleenex" in place of "facial tissue." They've sued a few struggling writers with fairly small publication runs because they wanted to be shown defending their brand name. One thing I think is odd is Coca Cola in the United States. In the Midwest, carbonated soft drinks are called "pop." On the East Coast, it's called "soda." In the American south, it's all "coke" even if it's a Pepsi.
Did you notice we have a spinoff meme thread just for dogs and cats? Not that I'm OCD about everything being in it's proper place and everything...
Righto Commander. Will watching my meme'ing and keep within the guidebook regulations! I'm assuming it's called something like cats and dogs?
Aaaaaaand now for an appropriate meme But, as I'm English, that's not meant to be offensive. It's supposed to communicate a TOTAL reassurance that your intentions will be executed.
