I'm skeptical about the book release because there haven't even been any leaks... And if this book comes out and it's like STD level bad after all the waiting, I don't know what I'm going to do...
wait STD lvls bad? STD is fine they have a lot of nasty ways to play and a few good builds. if you want to use a bad book then sylvanth(they made the faction worse) ogres(only one good unit in the army) KO (actively punishing you when you try to use the new rules) or SCE/Khorn (incredibly finicky and difficult armies to run) are all better books to site
Khorne and ogres are definitely top tier, I don't know start what your local meta is playing, ko and sylvaneth aren't great, but STD is definitely bad, the only viable list is archaeon and whatever you can do to buff him.
my problem with khorn is not that they are bad it's that it's a incredibly clunky book that in no way represents how khorn should play and the fact that the engien is hard to run for a army mostly run by new players. and no ogres are not top teir stone horns are everything else in the book is useless and we see this in the fact that all the ogre players that are doing well are running 4-5 stone horns and min battle line. and ever one else is getting pasted as for STD they can run nurgle anvils for days that make them almost as tanky as mortek guard in melee and way harder to kill at range/spells or the daemon prince builds that just shut down movement entirely, or 80 marauders that can move are wasy to buff and hit like a truck

The oversized, and overpriced, BLT things on nice bread that the restaurant thing in the building I work has. Marmalade loving bears are the best bears.
Roast beef and Munster. On the topic of book balance.... Just make us be a terror to Chaos and I'll be happy. There is so much Chaos and Order running around my meta. I can fight the Order armies well enough, just need a stats boost. But the Chaos armies are full of these weird little rules or super niche buffs that I can't do anything about.
I don't mean that. I mean like we already have. Just build in better versions of abilities that trigger whenever it has to do with a Chaos unit. Dispelling? Get a +1 when dispelling a Chaos Wizards spells. +2 if it is a Chaos Daemon. Damage increases like with the Basti, Chameleons, or our spells that are Warscroll specific. Hell, even the Slann's spell is a good case for this, since you could use it (not that you generally would) when not fighting Chaos Daemons and still have a beneficial effect for your army.
right and we pay for those the units that have them are a little more expensive because they have situational buffs, and when you don't need them then your paying extra for no benefit. just like when you buy rend and end up fighting night haunt
Fair enough. And a big oof. I did that two weeks ago... Of course there is always points adjustments after feedback. I'd still like to see a concerted effort to make us boogeymen for Chaos.
then i would put it in 1-3 of our spells/prayers we have plenty of useless ones we could replace. like Infused with starlight. CV6 increase rend of melee weapons by 1 when targeting chaos units. that way we can both have what we want
Several Chaos faction's and characters give bonuses to fighting Order units.... There are also some units that have bonuses against Death if I recall correctly.
That just doesn't seem like good design to me. Sure it's thematic, but I'd rather solid game design then first then thematic bonuses later.
