Part of our board control comes from summoning. Being able to roll a Summon on the EotGs for 20 Skinks and then LoSaT where they need to be is massive. On top of that, We can LoSaT either the Slann or Saurus AB to be a vector for CCP summoning as well. LoSaT is a big part of bard control, but summoning is the other end. Plus our two best battalions. SS and DT both offer a lot of board control.
I don’t know if I’m reading to deeply into this, but all our summoning points are divisible by 3, so wouldn’t it make more sense if they gave us 3 and 6 ccp tokens? This could mean they reworked all the summoning costs, or I could just be going crazy due to the hype train.
well they are defiantly going to rework summoning they have for all the chaos factions and they know that(with the exception of lizardwizard) we don't like our summoning macanics
I'm very happy to see that people are staying upbeat about these changes. Reading through that new lore post it seems we won't be considered daemons at all anymore! Seems like we are getting a stormcast treatment? Putting my envy of stormcast aside it seems promising!
most tokens they bring out are 1, 3,5 and 10. With 1 and 3 on each side and 5 and 10 on the other token. Atleast for the tokens I have
I like our summoning, I just wish that the Slann had better magic in the first place. It would also be nice to have other ways to get extra CCP so that we don't have to give up all our spells in order to summon, because the Slann just becomes a glorified, destructible terrain piece in most games. Also, any army with decent shooting has a good chance of blasting the Slann off the table in turn 1 or 2, thus basically guaranteeing a win at that point. On the main topic, I'm optimistic about our new book. I mentioned in the Rumor thread that I'm sure we'll probably lose a few things that we don't really want to lose, but as long as what we gain makes up for it I'm ok with that. Our units are so vastly underpowered compared to basically every other army that the whole object of the game for Seraphon becomes to avoid combat at all cost and just jump around between objectives and try to claim them with superior numbers through Skink spam. We have no units that can tank and hold an objective. We have no units that can drive any decent enemy units off an objective. We have no units that can duel enemy heroes or monsters without a hefty dose of spell buffs and luck. The only units we have that are truly even considered decent compared to other armies are Skinks, Razordons and some would argue Ripperdactyls. Everything else is just there to die in 1 turn and try to keep an enemy occupied long enough for the Skinks to claim objectives. So with that in mind, and knowing that GW seems to like the Seraphon, or at least knows how much love they have in the community, I'm quite optimistic that what we get in the book will be an improvement. It won't be perfect, it probably won't put us at the top of the meta, but it certainly won't move us down even further.
I am gonna buy the realmshaper and book for sure. This is the first new Lizardmen thing since I started this hobby in 2017 so pretty excited to get into this new book. That said I am confused and disappointed we have no new models or Endless Spells, even a Warcry Band! I think we should get a new Slann model. We have lots of Skinks and Saurus heroes - but only one monopose resin Slann - which is bizarre considering how they are the ultimate leaders of the Seraphon/Lizardmen. I am also open to Nakai the Wanderer as a kroxigor hero and expanding the kroxigor caste with more models. I'm thinking Stormfiend poses with wrist-mounted or shoulder mounted Solar Engines. Nakai can be like Marvel's War Machine but with Solar Engines. Who's with me??
I'm sorry> _ <, I play with seraphon for about 3 and a half years, and it's my first and only army. I hate GW very much for the miniatures, but I have a friend with orruks and he always said that they did not take out new minis, and look at a new army of shadespire, that gives me some hope xD. Also recently, the ogres received a band, they did not receive updates of miniatures when they were launched, as well nurgle PS: sorry for my english, some time i use translator for write better and the result is worse xD PS2: well the ogors received a tyrant xD
don't wory i have the same problem with english. but thats a good point maybe the ogre and orks are a precursor to a lizard team until then i will be kitbashing blood bowl guys
I don't know if I've ever said it, but if the Carnosaur has some decent rend, I'll be one happy Kroxi!
that and a 3+ save and better to hit and more wounds and replace the useless/terable abilities and mount traits and... you know the carnasuar just needs a lot of help
Probably not but maybe some of the monsters will be available to field without riders, like they are in Total War. Could that be a thing? My gaming group are starting to get back into Fantasy (now AoS) after a few years in 40k. Since most of them either sold their armies or had them void by the changes from fantasy to AoS, we will start with slow-grow. Probably around 500pts. Really hoping for good internal balance without Slann being an auto-include. Since I probably can't affor to field mine for a good while. I don't really recognize the Oldblood from the old Fantasy. They used to be WS6, S5 and A5 base, with a great weapon (+2 Str) that would normally translate to 2+ or 3+ to hit, 2+ to wound and all 6's to hit triggered Predatory Fighter for an additional attack. S7 would infer a -4 modifier to armor save (Rend). Now that is one angry lizard! (That's not even taking into consideration all the shenanigans you could come up with if you dabbled with magical items)
