Ye i agree. He mainly got really mad about scaly skin and savagery incarnate saying that savagery incarnate should have been reroll 1s instead because +1 to hit is to broken And i mean scaly skin is good but like teleporting and summoning is probably better
How? The only thing that was shown so far that has potential for abuse is the bound endless spells depending on how exactly that works. But everything else is fairly minor & so far we haven't gotten any rules that break the game (e.g. slaanesh's ability to fight out of order), nor have we been shown any super amazing stat-lines. A +1 to hit here, a -1 rend there, it's usefull but it's not like we've been shown a combo similar to say the blocks of mortek guard supported in such a way that they're basicly unkilleable.
Ive had my first game with my Seraphon on Saturday in the Path to Glory campaign, it went to a draw because he couldn't catch my units and I couldn't destroy his. The objective was to eradicate the others Army. Someone there (not the person I was playing against, he was super chill) called my Skinks broken because of wary fighter and doing what they do best, waste turns. Also Summoning and Teleporting was super broken aswell according to that person, never mind that everything got eradicated in melee and couldn't put up a decent fight. Sadly I had not painted up my Bastilladon or Carnosaurus, or I maybe have had a chance on killing something, made a lot of mistakes aswell, but hey first real game, and my third AoS game in total. So theres always something thats broken in the eyes of someone. Personally I'm looking forward to that Tome, from what has been shown it looks decent and lots of stuff to play around with. I like that I can field either physical or ethereal lizards and that they each offer a different playstyle. In my books that prevents the Army from going stale too fast. But that still remains to be seen and I certainly do hope that they retain the starlizard teleporting summoning playstyle, just a bit more optimized that they can hold their own on the battlefield.
Im in the same boat of looking forward to the book. Im overall pretty happy with what i have seen so far. My one wish is to be able to do something except die in the combat phase and to not be so extremly reliant on our slann like we are now I dont want to be extremly broken but i want to be able to put up a fight
Yup, allthough I love the Slann and my first list will definitely revolve around his grumpiness! But I'd like to go for a more Saurus based play aswell, so the Coalesced army is very tempting. But it fits in my personal army fluff, they are looking to reunite their tribe and to reestablish an empire! Lustria will rise again!
Same i really want to try the coalesced. Would love to be able to build a list that focuses on saurus units with a carnosaur as my general and not feel like im just wasting my time and handling the win to my opponent
I actually disagree here. It's so very core to our fluff that the Slann is the most important thing on the table - it always has been. From sitting him in the second row of temple guard blocks, to screening him with Skinks to buy time for a LoSaT escape, not to mention casting through vassals, it's how we have always played. If an opponent manages to take out my Slann, I feel like that's on me for doing something wrong (or some naughty dice!). Now that our frogs have a temple to sit on... personally, I hope the rules allow us to protect our Slann up there. I don't mind if this remains a focus for me throughout the game. He is the 'King' on our chess board - I just hope we get a few more back row pieces to back him up, as opposed to a field of pawns!
I might have worded that poorly of course i want the slann to still be an important piece for us. I just dont want him to be mandatory if you want to stand a chance in the game. Right now i feel like my lists are dead on arrival if i dont have a slann in my list and that honestly kinda sucks imo
I'm fairly sure that Seraphon have a bad rep when it comes to balance.. We have really strong abilities that would be pretty broken in other armies but with our statlines it barely manages to keep our head out of the water. The worst offender in my case (causing people to screech OP) is all the rerolls from thunderquake starhost. Meanwhile they are playing release Flesh Eater Courts or eel spam Idoneth Deepkin so i take it with a grain of salt.
We are kinda in the same boat as K.O, Tzeentch, and Nighthaunt. If they make our warscrolls too good we will run roughshod over everything in our path. Our allegiance abilities are probably the best set in AoS. Or at least they are great at what they do. I am hoping that our allegiance abilities stay just as strong, but our base warscrolls get stronger at the cost of our battalions. It seems like the best way to balance our army while leaving us more options than just controlling the board via Skinks. Creating two separate force types with Starborn and Coalesced was pretty brilliant on GW's part. Hopefully it is as well executed as it looks from the surface.
Yeah I was just doing everything to not get ripped to shreds, my opponent played Bonereapers (no petrifex) so calling me and Seraphon broken was really funny in that setup.
In my group some are the same, when the army of stegadons was known, one of them complaining that it was going to be very broken, being able to put many behemots and on top of it with invocation. And spoke the boy who uses 3 frostlord -.-(He lost against my kroaknado list in the last tournament, nothing left alive XD)
I love people that play in that very way they proclaim to be unfair or broken. If you win it's just that much sweeter. But I love people more that are just excited for others to get new rules, which is the general vibe in the PtG group. The funniest thing was the GW staff immediately starting a Seraphon army after seeing my Saurus Warriors on the table (humble brag) and the new rules on the horizon. One of my best mates is also just excited to play against all new Seraphon. Just don't listen to the haters.
I've been called a cheeser with a cheese list of a cheese army. ...for bringing a Shadowstrike with Terradons. Yes, they killed a idiotically placed Stardrake in turn 1 (he was in the range of all 60 Skinks and all my units went all of their attacks on him). I lost that game but the other player insisted it was broken. Just as Bastiladons. Super broken. Says the guy playing three Stonehorns...

Been there. The best solution is to just break out the Skaven, Ob, DoK, DoT, or Fyreslayers and show them what broken looks like Then don't complain about Seraphon, because at least they will get to kill something.
D3 MW against units in 3" on 4+? Rather lackluster...If that's all they won't sell too much of them...
