The terrain stuff clearly just requires some basic RAI understanding, I do not really see it being an issue. WAAC opponents will try to argue, but it will get overruled by almost all TOs.
Please include some sample lists, maybe a saurus guard based one since I want one to play next weekend in a friendly match? Pretty please?
It's not the end-all, be-all damage dealing mechanic. But the flexibilty of 40 bodies shooting away at 18" is unmatched and offers another vector to deal damage. Terradons are suicide bombers that are not going to survive for long, and maximum unit size for Hunting Packs is too small to warrant using buffs on them. Very nice damage too, but also another tactical role. Same with Saurus Warriors. All options, all viable. Just for comparison, max. Salamander hunting pack is 240 points, same as 40 Skinks. Starpriest Serpent Staff + Skink Priest Herald of the Old Ones active: Salamanders: 12 attacks 10 hits, 2 6s for 4 MW, rolling to wound with 8 hits 5.33 wounds 14.22 damage vs 4+ armor save (4.44 x 2 damage + 4 MW + 1.33 MW) Skinks (see page 391): 13.34 damage vs armor save 4+, option to double the output for 1 CP Salamanders are viable without external buffs and scale better against better defenses, but Skinks beat them easily with buffs (and have ridiculous output against bad saves). End of the line, both are effin' amazing. Isn't that great?
Not sure what you mean. The only solution for now would be to use the faction terrain rules in GHB2019 + Errata and 100% ignore the setup rule that is written in our battletome. That is not a trivial change.
Warscrolls overwrite rulebooks. But where on the warscroll does it say anything about setup? if you mean the description with “A Realmshaper Engine is a single terrain feature. It is an obstacle“ that is one every faction terrainpiece. It is exactly the same as all other factions play there terrain.
Not on the warscroll. 22:41 in the video. He doesn't read the complete text on the left page, but you can read it all if you pause.
I'm impressed that all 4 subfactions are good. Besides the obvious strengths of Thunder Lizard and Fangs of Sotek, even Dracothions Tail and Koat's Claw, which didn't impress me at first, have a lot of potential to be the cornerstone of amazing lists. Dracothions Tail is really good for spell spam lists (Kroak + Slann is a viable list), or to deep strike all the Salamanders to melt everything, or drop in a Starseer with any melee hammer unit charging 3d6+1. Koatl's Claw is great for mass Knights and Carnosaur spam. Getting a 3d6+4 charge with 15 Knights hitting on 2+/2+ with lances doing 2 damage on the charge and backed by Carnosaurs is pretty good.
Can I just stop right here and thank you for all the effort you put into this forum! 5 years ago I was a beginner skink as well, and this forum greatly help news players! So thanks again!
cant watch the vid. But if there is some ruling on there (and not on the warscroll), dont stress about it. Our scenery works the same as all other, 100% guaranteed!
I may have missed it but what's the point in paying 10pts extra for non predatory endless spells that don't move?
Don't say that if you can't watch the vid. Like wtf It's not a fluff text, it's a rules text. Just because it's not on the warscroll doesn't mean that we can just ignore that.
I can't make out the text in that video and YouTube reviewers make mistakes. Especially for armies they don't normally play and are simply power reading/skimming tons of stuff. Me personally I'm waiting till I have the book in my hands and can read(or get non-blurry English pictures of rules) all of the exact wording before I make any hard judgements. If the Zigguart does play how you fear, give it 1 big tournament where worse case situation happens and I bet it's changed in the next errata, maybe even before that. BUT the book isn't even out yet, just preorder so it's a little early to call for major changes without play testing by the community.
Amusingly enough, Wowcrendor started a Warhammer channel called WarhammerCrendor, got a Seraphon Battletome, and basically does huge zoom ins and focuses on the rules he talks about.
The question I believe is in regards to bound endless spells like soulsnare shackles, spell portals, cogs, prismatic Palisades and bailwind. Looks like they all have bound warscrolls in the YouTube reviews but none of the reviewers appear to check those warscrolls wording for differences
Yes, but what about: 1) Balewind Vortex; 2) Chonomatic Cogs; 3) Prismatic Palisade; 4) Umbral Spellportal. I can see cogs being only controlled by our wizards, but other three are not controlled at all. If they were like terrain - positive effects affect only us and negative - only enemy, I'd gladly give up 10 pts.
Theres not really anything to wonder about. You place the ziggurat before other terrain which is before sides are picked. Itll be errated to only allow seraphon to garrison it, but theres really no way around that basic premise that it goes down before sides are picked.
uhmm I have a doubt now, in the stegadon profile skinks and missile weapons are considered part of the mount. If you use the hero stegadon in thunder lizard he win a +1 attacks more to the mount then, ballista have 4 attaks, skinks 5, and i have a doubt whit sunfires, in the warscroll appear 1 attack, and that is equal to 1 dice for every enemy at 8", ok, but if you win a 1 more attack you roll the double of dice¿¿?
