Ok, so quick question. Have the new tome, but I still can’t seem to find a definitive answer. When building a unit of saurus, you have the option of an Alpha granting an extra attack. Easy, got that. My question is if I take a war drummer and a standard bearer do I lose their attacks? IOW, a unit of 10 saurus I have one alpha (11 attacks), add a standard bearer (now 10 attacks) and a war drummer (now 9 attacks). That sounds right, but can’t seem to verify it.
Ok, one more. Sallies. Say I have a unit of 3 sallies. 4 breath attacks * 3 models = 12 rolls. If I read it RAW if any of those attacks is a 6, even if just one, I assign the MW and don’t roll for the other hits? Am I reading that right, or am I just that dense?
You would not lose their attacks in the core rules, each model can make an attack with a weapon, regardless of what’s on the model (it’s how stuff like glaive wraith stalkers with drums attack). You still get the ability from the unique item, and can still attack with the clubs. The rule states “if the unmodified hit roll for an attack made with stream of fire or burning jaws, that attack inflicts d3 mortal wounds and the attack sequence ends” so only that one attack gets converted into mortal wounds
Ah, ok, that makes sense. Didn’t know about the glaive wraith stalkers, can only learn one army at a time.... Was about to say that seems a bit of a bad trade, but that makes it more palatable. Ah, so a case of bad wording. It sounds as if the entire attack ends, not just the one attack. That sounds much more effective.
With the warriors I also wondered if they would lose that attack, hence why I knew the answer on hand. Other thing to note is that if the drummer didn’t have his club, he would wack stuff with the mallet as for salamanders, it is pretty pretty effective, and honestly at the moment there is no point to taking razordons over them.
the fun bit is you used to have to pay points for banners and drums and you lost the normal attacks... hmmm WFB was fun.
razordons make for good switch hitters the wording at the moment makes it so instinctive defense goes off when you charge some one so you can shoot charge shoot and then fight
drums and banners are now instrumental and crucial to are gameplay But WHFB? The dark days before I knew what a carnosaur was...
Glad I could ask a question that others were pondering! Makes me feel like less of an idiot. Just less, mind you. Hell with the mallet, have you seen the size of a conga drum?!?? Those things can be lethal! And if there are enough, a good beat too!
