Im fine with every change/clarification and they were rather predictable tbh. Im just sad they didnt make comments or a designers note on the Realmshaper Engine. Even if just confirming that they like the idea of the minigame of who gets to garrison it first.
So scaly skin got FAQed, the problem is the change contradicts the core rules as mortal wounds get treated like regular damage once allocated, functionally creating a paradox with no resolution
We have lots of alternative for them. At least, in my region, I won't have any problems with printed ones.
This confirmation makes me sad. I know this may be a "knee-jerk" reaction to this, but why even give us a terrain piece if we have only a 50/50 chance to use it? I guess GW wants it to be a central terrain piece and have the armies to fight for who can get there first?
If you map it out turn by turn, the issue with placing it in the middle etc. is that it will simply take too long to get inside. You have to run a Skink Priest up so he's within 6" - Next turn you use his movement to garrison the piece - Next turn you get to activate it, since it is in the hero phase. This means you spend at least 2 turns not going inside and using it. This will likely be extended to 3 turns since your opponent will want to challenge it, and having a unit within 3" will deny you garrisioning it. The end result is like 2 rounds of actually using it. And for what? The possibility of doing D3 MW, which your opponent can deny by moving 3" away from terrain features.
you can deploy troops in a garrison if its in your TERRITORY, not your deployment zone. im thinking they were over cautious about players abusing this and nerfed it too hard to compensate.
Honestly if we could plop it down after having picked sides, we could ping enemy faction terrain every turn for a 4+ (within 36") to do D3 MW. If you have a Slann/Kroak, you could do Comet's Call ontop. It would pretty much deny stuff like Khorne altar, FEC altar, BoC stone etc. It might be a bit too good? Im dreaming of a RSE + Comet's Call + SC Everblaze Comet. Just bomb the enemy support heroes with MW from turn 1.
If we could place it after terrain set up, we would never be able to set up it at all. It is very big and can be easily denied spacy by other terrain. Any opponent, which knows, what to do, would never allow us to set it on table.
There are several questions I asked that still didn't get an answer. Lots of questions honestly.... How many times you can use the EotG ability. Once the whole turn aside from TL? Or is it once per EotG? I know I asked this one of them. Also with the engine, they added the priest back. Unfortunate. Sad to see the Ripper Chief was nerfed.... He was mostly worth it as he was. He's still usable, but now less so. Terradons are now miles better. Summoning is officially gimped, and building for it is going to hamper your force greatly. It's possible to do so, but it's not going to be as viable as just building an army and ignoring the mechanic/using it a little. Realmshaper is unchanged, but the decision on the Balewind Vortex interaction with it is.... Odd. It makes sense though. It doesn't exactly feel like we were nerfed by the FAQ. It just feels like they never intended for some of the interactions that made parts of the army better. Ah well... We're still fairly strong.
The only thing I can think of is putting it the neutral zone, and using a Slann+AB+10 or more Guard to soak wounds. It’s still a gamble no matter how you slice it. Will probably house rule it with my gaming group.
EOTG is specific on the warscroll. one eotg can use its ability per turn under normal circumstances. it doesn't need a FAQ due to the clarity.
I'd rather they still answered the question, since you can still do it multiple times taking three Engines in TL and using a command point for each. Going by RAW, Razordons can still shoot after charging as well. I wonder why that wasn't caught. I do hope they clarify the Sylvaneth question I had as well. I still don't know why it hasn't been clarified yet. You'd think Sylvaneth players or anyone who can ally them would want to know explicitly....
At least it gives them a slight leg up over what most of us thought the RAI were. Vs low save models it’s a pretty good “bonus” hit. Salamanders are still better though. Ahh well.
