Just want to check, my understanding is that even though it now has a skink priest on it's back it doesn't pick up the skink priest keyword as the FAQ was written, correct?
the priest is now the hero, they did it to stop putting artifacts on the stegadons weapons. it was expected.
It didn't receive priest keyword or anything, unfortunately. Skink Priest is just a name of a hero, riding Stegadon and Arcane Vassal is bound to keyword, IIRC.
It does seem like at that price point, and the obvious EoTG nerf that it could have had the Priest keyword, give it a prayer even if making it a wizard is too much.
Then I guess an EotG is still not able to get the Master of Star Rituals trait in a Thunder Lizard army since it has a monster mount? Too bad :/
I think it can? The stipulation is that it can’t be a wizard if you want the free CP ability from the priest.... someone correct me if I am wrong though
You have to take Prime Warbeast for Mounted warlord in Thunderquake Templehost. If you want MoSR for free CA, you'll have to give it to Skink Priest - there's no other options.
so in all technicality you can bring 2 EotGs nd activate them 3 times total with the thunder lizard command ability
It says in the EOTG rules "At the start of the shooting phase, you can make 1 cosmic engine roll for 1 model with this ability." It does not say, "An EOTG can make 1 cosmic engine roll." The "For 1 model with this ability" denotes that only 1 of the models can make that roll. GW doesn't want someone bringing 5 of these and creating 2 -6 units of saurus every turn.
I know, you would be using the EotG ability once normally without a command point nd then twice with the command ability from the thunderlizerds at the end of your shooting phase but point wise it's not really worth it.
I think it is worth it with a slaan, When you tell your opponent it can potentially create 2 units of Saurus a turn they will put a lot of effort into getting it instead of your other threats and it typically if fired twice creates 2 units a game if protected, that makes a 260 point unit into a 180 point unit with a pocket 180 unit.
