    Hey All,

I have recently started to get back into AoS and had this "fantastic" idea to convert all of the models to have more hi-tech/space age gear.

My first few models were converted using Necron bitz, and while I really like the look, getting my hands on enough Void Blades (for shields) and Phase Swords (well for swords) is proving to be harder/more costly than anticipated.
What Im wondering is would it be possible to maintain this high tech look using the standard Seraphon parts?
I think the weapons minus the spikes will work fine, but im stuck on how to get the shields to look hi-tech.

Has anyone else tried to give the Lizards a similar look or have any advice for me?

    Thanks all

    Welcome to Lustria!

Some of the effect could be achieved through how you paint the miniatures. Using line work techniques similar to GW;s T'au Methods. You could also paint the scaled shields to appear backlighted between the scales.

I think @LizardWizard's idea is good and will save some money.
Otherwise Necron and Tau parts from 40k are the way to go.
Or you could get some third party shields (for example simple round ones) and just paint them space-ish.
Maybe you could even print them yourself.

    Thanks guys,

Will try the back lit look later today.
Once its done I will pop a few photos up.

If that fails I may just have to bite the bullet and get the Necron parts in drips and drabs.

    Thanks again

OK, this is far beyond my skills, but if you're looking for inspiration, I've got an impressive seraphon army space-themed (which, BTW, used also some necron piece!)

the easiest way to turn any piece of equipment or plate of armour into one hiding sci-fi elements is to carve circuitry into its more prominent flat surfaces
some small lines and dots are enough especially if coupled with a good luminescent paintjob

you'll find for example that certain concept arts for the engine of the god or even one of the lances of the ripperdactyls riders feature this design

Here are some of my space lizards.

Astrolith bearer is built like the guards, with a space marine banner arm and 30k thunder hammer. Chameleon skinks are chameleon skink heads from bb, with tau fire warrior bodies, trimmed off the rifle and use part of the burst cannon to make the boltspitter. The chameleon skinks will be the leaders, the rest of the unit will be regular skink heads on fire warrior bodies. The other skink is going to be the alpha for my regular skinks, they are the old skinks with bows, I plan on painting them like holograms.

I’ll probably put up a blog as soon as I have a bit more progress done.
