First off woohoo! This is thread number 1000 in this section!! Secondly I'm looking at taking a Slann in a Stormcast army. For 260 points we get a 3 cast wizard with a natural +1 to cast AND the command point generation built in. You could even take Lord Kroak! Thoughts?
Yes, Kroak, Slann and Starseer are all nice supporting heroes. Probably, GW didn't give us much allies, because we can make other armies too strong accidently.
A slann seems a bit underwhelming though as you won't have acces to the spell-lore. Seems a bit of a waste of 3 casts. Kroak would work wonders though as an ally in any army.
Correct me if it has been FAQ'd but the Stormcast Battletome under spell lores (p122) says "You can choose or roll for one spell from one of the following tables for each Wizard in a Stormcast Eternals army." So as it stands allied wizards can cast Stormcast spells.
In the allied rules section it should say something to effect of allies not being able to take spells, allegiance abilities, or artefacts from the army they are allied to. That being said, Realm Spells! Or, Lord Kroak.
Half of the SCE already re-roll saves of 1's thanks to their shields, making mystic shield a bit meh. Realm spell is better I guess. Comet's call is of course amazing, but only 1 out of 3 casts. So it seems a bit underwhelming, or at least wastefull. Imho, if you're going to take a slann as an ally take Kroak. All the benefits of a slann, but way better. The greater survivability & extra command point roll are more than worth his higher cost on their own. On top of that you get an extra spellcast/unbind & you get to spam celestial deliverance from behind a wall of SCE. What more could you possibly want?
nope, bound ones are part of our faction allegiance. If you could take bound ones then a normal slann + 2 bound endless spells would be an interesting ally.
I'm thinking a Slann/Kroak, a stardrake, and a knight incantor with ever blaze comet. Actual comets for days. Plus you can cast the everblaze comet then dispel it from anywhere using the slann.
wait a turn to dispell it, it also does damage during the hero phase, and it might force your opponent to dispell it.
I think there was a rule somewhere that says "can't cast the same turn its dispelled" I might be a liar though. I lost my ghb19
well regardless of whether there is or not there is no point in dispelling it the same turn. you can't cast it again and it has lingering efects that you would miss out on if you took it off early
I have read this multiple times, but pretty sure it is false. Nowhere in the Malign Sorcery book does it say this, and there is no errata/FAQ to the Malign Sorcery for it either. I doubt it is hidden somewhere in the GHB19 since it would be a rule related to the Malign Sorcery book. At the start of the hero phase you can dispell an endless spell at the cost of a cast, and each endless spell can only be attempted to be dispelled once. Edit: Just went through the GHB19 quickly and there was nothing for endless spells beside the change to the matched play point profiles.
Could it be in another hidden place? I, for some reason, remember such limitation too. EDIT: Asked other players. They confirm that you can dispel an ES and cast it again in the same turn.
