Hi all, Played a friend a couple of times now and he's won both games with his Nurgle army. Second game I felt I was using synergies much better but I was still struggling with taking down his Great Unclean One, Glottkin and the way they can heal repeatedly (as well as resilience to wounds). What do people recommend? Briefly, this is what I fielded in game 2 (1500pts) Slann Starmage Skint Starpriest Astrolith Bearer 30 skinks (javelin/buckler) 2x 10 skinks (boltspitter/club) 3 Kroxigor 3 Ripperdactyl Riders Stegadon (skystreak bow) Bastiladon (solar engine) Considering upping the number of monsters but GUO seems to be really good against big targets.
well, for a starter the rippers are sadly just wasted points. Not enough attacks and anyway with rend 0 they will just bounce. Nurgle's armies are just too resilient. with those 80 pts i would upgrade the steggy to chief, and then i would take also an endless spell (quicksilver sword against nurgle). but if i'm not wrong, you are slightly less than 1500. At that point you could consider an upgrade to stegadon chief, AND take those 30 skinks to a full unit of 40, to exploit your starpriest's venom.
Thanks! I also have access to: Oldblood on a Carnosaur Another Bastiladon (can assemble either way) 15 knights Scar Vat on CO Skink Starseer 3 Terradon 10 more javelin skinks 30 Saurus warriors Any big changes you'd make?
This, run Kroak. he lays down some serious hurt on Chaos Daemon Units. Also, focus more on objectives and less on killing. The GUO and Glotkin are only single models. Kill the Plaguebears/marauders/blightkings and you should be able to outnumber your opponent on the objectives.
Also, kill any Deamon with the Witherstave Asap. It was already a popular artefact, but now that Malign Sorc is gone it will be even more prevalent.
I dont think it helped we were playing the ambush scenario, where it was all about whoever caused the most wounds. But yes, with objectives I'd just stay out of the range of bith of the big guys.
