    Meh, the cult
    1) doesn't allow you to throw away your life, you have to do everything you can to survive. You can't just go into an dragons lair and jump into his mouth you actually need to show up with a viable plan for killing that dragon.
    2) Your dead has to have meaning/impact, you're not allowed to just charge an entire army on your own where you have no real impact and won't achieve anything. You have to go help in say a siege and die there where your presence actually mattered cuz you held the walls until reinforcements could survive or something like that.
    3) causes greater than yourself have priority (e.g. Ungrim and his duties)

Based on that I'd still say armour is allowed given the right circumstances. Worst case you just need to fight twice as hard to make up for the "shame" of wearing armour. Hell, it could even be an explicit punishment given to particularly dishonourable dwarfs, being forced to not only be a slayer, but an armoured slayer at that.

Anyways regardless, fyreslayers really just need something besides halfnaked dwarfs with mowhawks who only wield axes. It's fine for a fairly niche religious cult within a faction to have a limited aesthetic, but it's weird for an entire faction to be limited to that aesthetic. Especially as the fyreslayers aren't supposed to just be slayers, there's also "normal" fyreslayers so to say. There's still an equivalent to the slayer's oath, but that's not a thing the entire faction has taken. It'd also make it far easier to introduce new units cuz then new units could actually be visually distinct while still visually being a coherent whole.

Tbh it could be a quite cool concept. The fluff behind the army being that they have been sent out to honour themselves among their kin for whatever actions they might have done.

Depends on how exactly it is implemented, the obsession with honourable death doesn't work very well on the level of an entire society as the society still needs to function. And that's kinda difficult if everyone keeps looking for dragons and getting themselves killed.

But a society as a whole trying to redeem their collective honour while accepting that their society also needs to be kept from collapsing can be interesting as a faction.

A sort of feudal japan, where the former Shogun failed in something, so it's a stain to the honour of the whole clan that needs redemption through the actions of all the clan's members, but also cannot be achieved by commit a generalized seppuku.

Basicly, and for some internal strive you have a bit of a struggle between those trying to die gloriously to regain their honour and those trying to keep society from just collapsing. With the occasional warlord/king/potato-farmer falling to chaos cuz he can't manage to balance out trying to regain his honour with having to to also ensure society doesn't collapse.

That would make sense given that the prefix ‘Umbra’ refers to shadow, though I was hoping that they would make Malekith’s Elves more like shapeshifting Shadow Daemons than fully-formed Elves because previous articles talked about Shadow Daemons. I’d prefer Shadow Daemons because it’d avoid having to have yet another Elf faction (we’ve got three already, surely that’s enough given we’ve got light, dark and neutral Elves?) and it would be fun to see more ‘Daemons of Order’ like Lizardmen were originally intended to be.

In any case opening up the same article on Warhammer Community has revealed they’ve changed this to Daughters of Khaine:

Which suggests that either they’ve leaked that too early, incorrectly labelled the Umbraneth Elves when they’re going to be Shadow Daemons or most likely both.

    Interesting.

Wouldn't it be weird to have KHAINite shadowstalkers outside the Daughters of Khaine faction?

Interesting unit though, decent damage output, a teleport a ranged attack with mortal wounds (although a bit too short ranged) & a -1 to hit. Seems like one of the first warcry "units" that's genuinly decent and not just reliant on a gimmick.

Scions of the flame are kind of the useless though. Their special rules are underwhelming and they lack the raw stats to be interesting based on that.

If you look at Lumineth you have the "normal Elves" and also the "not-so-normal-Elves" within the same faction. I wouldnt be surprised if they run somewhat the same theme with Umbraneth.

I guess we know which faction is getting our old two teleports per turn ability, lol!

I would theorize that the Umbraneth will probably have a lot of negatives to hit and teleports, making them an extreme deep striking and mobility army similar to how Seraphon used to play, but with much better units and abilities :p

I just want to read the writing that says and explains how Morathi wanted to god so hard she believed an incarnation of herself into being. I need to see this explanation, and wrap my head around the relationship she has with her more divine self I guess? If that’s the case. Because everybody knows Morathis are like highlanders and there can be only one and they probably are not good buddies or something.
