For those who don't know, Warmaster was a Warhammer setting game from ages back with teeny, 10mm scale guys. I've been playing with the idea of making a Lizardmen army in this long dead gaming system for a while now, so here we are!

My minis mostly come from eureka miniatures, with some bits from other places and a whole load of conversation. The design, I wanted to form a bridge between 'modern' Lizardmen (6th ed WFB to 8th), and the feather-tastic Lizardmen from 5th ed I first started collecting with. If you prefer AoS, you do you, but my army is set solidly in the WFB universe.

So on to the models. The beginning of my army is two units of Saurus and two units of Skinks.

60 Saurus with spears, and resplendant feathers.

    Each unit in term.

Here are the Skinks, one unit moving through swampy ground. While the Saurus all have unified weapons, I decided to give the skinks a mix of blowpipes, javelins and spears, to give a more skirmish feel.

    Here's both skink units together.

Do you like them? Please let me know what you think. :)

Awesome work, I love the swampy Skinks.
Does it also make for more Skinks or is it just for the coolness?

    Thanks Sudsinabucket and Imrahil. :D

The swampy skinks are just for coolness, although I now have some spare legs I might try and do something with.

This is one of my favourite swampy skinks, I'm pleased with how it came out.

I have the feeling you didn't use any 'water effects' or similar product to emulate the water, but it looks very real.
    May I ask your recipe?

Thanks Imrahil, and you are quite right, this is just paint and varnish. My paints are a mix of old and new names, so I'll tell you what I've used and please let me know if you needed them converted to new names.

I start with a base of Loren Forest, and then apply patches of Necron Abyss to be deeper areas, and Snot Green to be plants in the pond. The smoother the transitions here, the better the final effect will look.

Then I put a series of light coats of Enchanted Blue over the top. The green at the edge is more Snot Green that I have gone over some of with Enchanted Blue, but leaving the very edge uncovered. A very light coat of Administrartum grey goes over this, taking care to let it collect anywhere.

Finally several coats of gloss varnish are added. Brush shrokes are kept in curves around the Skinks and the edge to look like ripples. Two or three coats and we're done. :)

I've bought some 3d printeded Triceratopses that I'm planning to use as Stegadons.

I'vehad some bad experiences with 3d printing in the past, bad detail and clear print lines. These are "smooth ultra detail" or something like that and look a lot better. Lets see how they take paint.

Gotta build some houdas first though. :)

    Warmaster Kroxigors. :D

These lads are pretty huge and can only fit two on a base, but that left quite a lot of space around them. So why not fill it with Skinks! I always loved how Kroxigor and Skinks look together.

The weapons are made from Warhammer scale Skink weapons plus some converting, and the plants are paper. The standard is scratch built from card and greenstuff.

Wow that is a great epic lizardmen force!

Looking forward to seeing those stegadons complete! :snaphappy::snaphappy::snaphappy:

...curious if you have built any temples or terrain to scale to go along with these guys? At that scale you could probably make an entire temple city! :wideyed:

    Thanks Warden! :D

And yes I am. Here's a work in progress Lizardman temple. I'm planning to use cable ties as steps and the various platforms are intentionally scaled to fit Warmaster base sizes. More coming soon!

Work in progress of some feathered "cold ones". I used greenstuff to give them feathered crests and tails, and then a feather paint job on the rest of the animal.

I also switched all the spear shafts for a harder material than puter, made the metal bits on the spear heads with greenstuff and scratch built a standard to reprisent the Old One Itzl, god of beasts, and who's symbol is the great crest.

I'm quite pleased with how well feathered they look without having to cover the entire model in greenstuff.

Feathery Cold Ones are finished! I guess they're not so cold now with all those fluffy feathers. :D

I gave the boss a magic sword made out of clear acrylic, and used greenstuff to make a Horned One. Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the kind words generatorss!

Working now on a unit of teeny Temple Guard (for guarding teeny temples I guess). The models I'm using don't come with any, so I'm converting them up.

Here are some tests, with bone helmets and waighted pole arms. Now lets see if I have the patience to make 26 like this.

Turns out yes! And here they are.

    IMG_20201128_144411912.jpg

The skulls are based on tye classic design from 5th ed, with waited spears based on that eara as well. I also gave them plenty of shield glyphs and feathers etc, to show they are the elites of the army.
    IMG_20201128_144739433.jpg

Here's a close-up of the command unit, with max bling. The standard on the left was 3d printed from shapeways.
    IMG_20201128_144704765.jpg

I also made these two on what is going to be a Slann base.
