Finally took a big photo of everything I finished last year! 2020 saw the completion of my Adeptus Mechanicus force, as well as a bunch of Orks, the start of my Cryx forces, and a ton of Samurai and Daimyo, as well as my Slann Council Spoiler
I haven't been around for about a month, sorry about that, but I have been taking a break and playing lots of No Man's Sky recently and some other games. Thank you @LizardWizard, I had two pages worth of notifications just from you when I logged in this morning. Spoiler That is a great question! I have not gotten much hobby stuff done in January except for some assembly (Van Saar for Necromunda) and some stuff I will post on my Lizardmen army blog soon. For 2021 I hope to still hit 300, and finish the vast majority of the projects I still have on my bench: Necromunda teams (Van Saar and some incoming Cawdor/Mechanicus) some Blood Bowl Lizardmen my brother gave me complete my Warmachine/Hordes Gatormen and Cryx WIPs Blood and Plunder Native Americans Maelstrom's Edge Battle for Zycanthus more Warlord Games Samurai Especially looking forward to getting my samurai project more complete! Speaking of Samurai, I have pictures of the current status of my Samurai army that I took on the last day of 2020: Western Army: Eastern Army: Spoiler: more Samurai Army Pics
Your Samurai armies are definitely starting to build up! I’ve largely abandoned my Celtic Tribe brawl idea due to having so much Warhammer stuff, but am building up a nice SPQR collection that give some fast and furious smaller-scale battles. I don’t know if you noticed my procurement of a sprue of Warlord’s Greek Hoplites in the What Are You Doing Today Hobbywise thread as some mercenaries!
Some updates for my Necromunda projects: I purchased this little guy recently, and while he may be a Reaper model I think he is fantastic, and intend to use him as a xenos bounty-hunter: The jetpack is what really sold me on this guy He is a Skywing Infiltrator, a bit smaller than my Skywing Stormcaller (also from Reaper) that I painted a while back: Next up on the painting block is my Van Saar gang, with extra shields incoming from Forgeworld: Also WIP are my soon-to-be converted up Cawdor gangers: Here is my WIP Van Saar ganger so far. I haven't gotten much done, but he will be mostly red with some green/teal/purple/magenta thrown in: Sadly the white overspray on the black undercoat did NOT go as planned as the paint was too chunky. Fortunately my painting style tends to be chunky anyway so noone should really notice in the end
Updates on skywing infiltrator, he has his basecoats down and ready for washes: Nice bright colors reminiscent of the gek-character I have been playing on No Man's Sky recently that is taking up all my painting time
A few washes and highlights later, and the Skywing Infiltrator is finished! So much fun painting this backpack Spoiler: moar piks! Alongside his prehistoric big brother! As much as I like the gray-blue for my previous Necromunda-style bases, i think I will give them a brown/soft tone wash after finishing them in the future. Really helps bring out the detail and give them just a bit more of that grungy look I was going for
Looks great - Those colour schemes really pop. They look like they'd be great side characters in an episode of The Mandalorian or something like that
Finished my test Van Saar model last night, happy with how he turned out. Painted him in three phases of basecoat, second coat, and highlights. Spoiler: phase 1 Spoiler: phase 2 Phase 3 (complete): May do a little more to the bases (a drybrush or a wash) but for now he looks great! Looking forward to painting the other nine
He looks good. Nice scheme to see a complete 'warband' in. Is that the default base for Necromunda? Or did you order the base separate? Grrr, Imrahil
Thanks! Yes and no. I have the default bases for Necromuda, and just resin cast them so I could have as many copies as I want. The base this Van Saar guy is actually standing on is one of those casts. A large number of my Adeptus Mechanicus infantry are also on cast-Necromunda bases. I also ordered some slightly larger Necromunda bases for bigger models to use (the 30mm instead of the standard 25mm bases). Some of my Cawdor models will be on these bases as they have really wide stances.
The horror! Specifically the Necromantic Horror(s) have been assembled and basecoated. Bit more to do, but I am enjoying the great amount of character they bring to the table, and hope to paint them at least half as well as the epic inspiration provided by @WildColonial Boy
Worked on the horrors for a few hours last night, I enjoyed how the couple layers of oranges turned out! Favorites are these three so far, loving the pumpkin heads! Also enjoying this token; bit more to do before they are finished! Makes me want to start a Hordes Grymkin army
