That would be the dream scenario. I'd love to add to my existing collection as long as my current collection is playable. More Chaos Dwarfs!

Part of why Dreadfleet didn't live for longer than a few months in my area. They hype was that we were seeing Manowar return and when that wasn't the case people lost interest. Doesn't matter how cool the models were it if your main goal is to tap into the nostalgia factor you need to at least give more rules for those who had the models. IMO of course.

Same here. I don't know if Dreadfleet is comparable to this though. Dreadfleet was pretty small scope in its ruleset if i remember correctly, i mean, it only had like 20 different units right, and no real factions? The more i think about it, the more i like the idea of a 30Kish implementation, with retention of old models.

It would be awesome if they used this to do rule updates, depower the ridiculous armies (High Elves, Chaos Warriors), empower ones that got a bit shafted (Tomb Kings for one) and salvage the armies that never made it to 8th (Bretonnia, Beastmen, Chaos Dwarves, Araby, etc.)

Probably total pipe dream, but hey, you can always have dreams.

“I spread my dreams at your feet. Tread softly, for you tread upon my dreams” or similar wording.

Yeah, i wasn't talking only about new models in replacement of old ones (kinda like the new necron warriors design), which could be interesting, but i would gladly welcome also new units to be fielded side by side to the classic ones.
But i must be able to play the old factions, and most of all the discontinued ones. That's not negotiable.

Absolutely. If it nukes previous armies/models then it’s just a money thing and they can **** off.

I think there are plenty opportunities for GW to release models for existing armies:
    • replace really old kits
    • models for units that never got one (i.e. Hierotitan)
    • models for units/characters that were in the fluff (Nakai, Coatl)
    • new units for existing armies

I just want my Dogs of War back, but it would be nice if they'd include some of the stuff the Warhammer Armies Project did. I like the Hobgoblin Khanate army list, for one...

As long as they don’t include Eliasson’s horrible Scottish interpretation of Albion I don’t mind if they bring in some of his other new factions.

Dogs of War are my favorite models so that would be a plus. Would love to see some sort of balance to things.

That's part of Regiments of Renown right? That's where I got the idea for my LO ID

The Dogs of War were the main units of basic types, Pikemen etc. The Regiments of Renown were the named character units. Not all were great or even good depending on the edition but they are beautiful models overall. Perry Brothers did nice work and they are before the dark times of Heroic scale.

I don't care for the larger and larger scale increases. I prefer the closer to actual scale in things like the Dogs of War. Heroic Scale isn't bad for Chaos or Orcs but other than that I don't care for it. It's an artistic preference, each to their own.

    Who is Eliasson?

    And can you explain:
    “...horrible Scottish interpretation of Albion...”

To be fair there was never an army of Araby in 6th edition or 7th.

Was there an army of Araby back in the before times of 2nd/3rd edition??

I only remember one regiment box for Dogs of War and one Bret hero (sidekick) indicating Araby even existed:

    Al Muktar’s Cavalry
    and
    Suleiman Le Saracen

Matthias Eliasson, creator of the Warhammer Armies Project.

Many of his works are good but in my view at least his version of Albion is awful, as it bases the faction on Scottish and Irish highlanders and mythology a lot, whereas Albion is the name the British Celts (a different group entirely) gave to Britain and I’ve always seen Albion as the Warhammer Ancient Britons.

I do get annoyed when people only think of the Celts as hairy, unclean Scottish Higlanders quoting Braveheart (as Eliasson certainly seems to think), when actually the Celts were a hugely advanced civilisation in their own right who reached the height of their powers long before Scotland was even a thing, and when Scotland did rise to power, it was an extremely backward nation that bore little resemblance to Celtic Britain at its prime.

Now if you want to see a version of Albion that is infinitely superior and more respect toward the Celts at the height of their power, the Deviantartist Matthew Klaas de Witte has created a lot of magnificent illustrations revolving around his interpretation of Albion, which takes a lot more influence from Ancient Britain and Gaul:
    https://www.lustria-online.com/thre...artwork-by-matthew-klaas-de-witte-whfb.22079/

I liked this take on Albion so much I’ve created my own unofficial army list for it on EEFL:
    https://eefl.freeforums.net/thread/2196/warhammer-albion-playtest-army-draft

In 3rd Edition I certainly know humans were profiled as generic - the Empire, Bretonnia and some other factions were talked about in lore but there were no special rules for them - so you could have created an Araby-themed army in those editions and it would have been legal. Then 4th Edition arrived and generic army lists vanished in a puff of smoke, and only armies from the Army Books were legal. Araby never got any Army Books sadly.

I think when @Lizards of Renown mentioned Araby, he was talking about the fact that they did appear in Warmaster, the 10mm epic-scale version of Warhammer Fantasy.

I think I was bamboozled by this very realistic army book.

Shame really, they're a great theoretical army.

    Somehow related.
Forge World is retiring the Chaos Dwarfs from their line. It's last chance to buy.

With CD being discontinued by FW, and with FW almost surely doing the models for TOW, i doubt there will be an inclusion of evil dawi in the game.
